An absolute dream of a build. I bought a van and fully converted it into a livable tiny home with my Dad. He pretty much did it all. This was the perfect layout for me and all my mountain bikes. I can comfortably live in it and still have all my bikes and bike gear in the back. I also think that an A/C unit is a must if you're going to live In it full time. I also went with a 170 over 144 because I wanted a shower. I love the all white too because it makes the tiny space brighter and surprisingly not to hard to keep clean. The van has seriously been a game changer! comment below if you have any questions about the build or if you have done one please share about it I love to hear about all different builds and layouts.

Literally my dream build plan, especially placing the electric stove and basin right near the door rather than the bed. Only thing missing is a rooftop deck and the only access is from the bed with a sky window to climb up so no one else can climb up😂

That’s a amazing build you & your Dad created. Maybe change out the two Thule licks that may hazard you to inside & add in the outside exact place a place to add on a mounted licking mechanism when you go out hiking or whatever errands that you go on . Then no one can lick you in from the outside if they are up to no good

Nice build! I think most people that don't have a van don't understand how much dirt and dust gets tracked-in. I have the same brush and have to sweep mine out daily as well.

This has been a dream of mine for a long time to have a van like this. I am 72 years old and my rent has gone up yet again and it’s so hard living on a fixed income because my income doesn’t go up with it. I probably will not be able to stay in my apartment much longer. I hope to find something like this and get it converted before I no longer have a home. It really inspires me. Thank you so much for sharing.❤️

I lived vanlife for quite a while. It's not as good as what these videos portray it as being. It's expensive, stressful and a lot of hard work. And you need to have at least $10,000 behind you in case of an emergency. Otherwise you might end up homeless permanently. My advice is to try van life first, before you decide to do it full time. Rent a U-Haul Van for the weekend or a minivan and just try it and see if you like it. Chances are you might hate it right away. And remember if you give up your apartment you'll probably never get another one

Why didn’t you plan for retirement when you were younger? You lived through times where pay was higher compared to rent and mortgages (1980s - mid 90s). Why didn’t you buy a house when prices were super low in the mid-90s and early 2000s? Guess it’s easier to feel sorry for yourself than take responsibility.

Impressive! I’m not surprised if you get people asking to build the identical van for them. What is the ballpark cost of materials including the Sprinter? I know the work your father and you put in saved a bunch of $$$ 👊🏼

We did! I was in it the whole time until it passed. scariest experience ever but the van kept me safe. Unfortunately the van was left with a lot of dents due to trees and hail.

It ain't easy but it is simple. 1. Live beneath your means 2. Invest the difference in appreciating assets that beat inflation. 3. Take the energy you currently put into envy and put it into stacking wealth aka freedom, not collecting stuff.

I'm currently converting a 159 Promaster with my father too. I am hating the process, not from anthing to do with my dad (he's a ROCKSTAR) but these youtube van conversion videos are misleading because the work is very tedious, frustrating, EXPENSIVE, and slow, and none of these polished YT van videos show that to the audience.
