I tried to melt steel using that transformer heating exploit once, wasted a couple of cycles only to realize they have an overheating threshold 😂 Kilns and aquatuners are the only way for simple magma/steel that i know so far

Kilns have the problem that they also drop refined carbon which solidifies and sucks up alot of the heat. Tried using it to melt steel and other things because it is one of the only buildings without an overheating threshold. Didn't work out as intended 😅

What I would like (if it isnt too much effort, since you do it so nicely in your shorts) would be that you display numbers on the screen when you explain an Exploit. Like with the Pee-water-loop. You get 5 kg/cycle out of regular dupes. (turned into oxygen. That would mean 14 dupes could supply the 60 kg/cycle of oxygen for one dupe)

Hm that is an Idea for some of the builds i present, slight BUT incoming here: since ONI is very complex this can get out of hand quickly. So for example: this only counts if you have regular dupes and no mouth breathers or divers lung dupes, also only on regular difficulty; then only if you don't have small bladder duplicants; this or that. When your spom has down time it also doesn't work mathematically. You get where i am going with this. If i go too much into detail the let's play is quick to derail into a pure tutorial for 1 specific thing. And I do want to do tutorials seperately :D. But for the integration of numbers (i mean setiings. I could do some pop up text instead of just showing the settings tab. Time needed could be the same. Thank you for your suggestions as always :D

For me personally you wouldnt have to seperate it left and right. exploit next to regular would also be fine. You are not seperating your Ressources anyways so we will not see that one side runs out of ressources and the other generates more.

I was thinking about sealing off the vanilla and exploit side once i got both of them running. But yeah the recourcess will probably be shared (igneous rock and dirt and so on). Or i find a method to produce each needed resource (not all of them but what is needed at that moment in time) on the vanilla and exoploit side.

I use a submerged electrolyzer set up with an open bottom to the base, one gas pump near the airflow tiles and the electrolyzer keyed to an atmosensor. I very occasionally pick up a small packet of CO2 from the nearby cook but it's really a non problem. The over pressurized hydrogen room is the heatsink for a termoregulator hydrogen loop that keeps all my food deep frozen. It's at around 100kg/tile and like 28-32 degrees after around 50-80 cycles or so. Initially the open bottom and lack of gas pump allowed the device to remain self powering even with the cooling loop running full out.

28:11 A gas valve to throttle the oxygen on the main oxygen pipe coming out of the system would be a good idea. It would let the system to work regardless of what happens elsewhere.

One of the tricks I usually used is to turn on the sandbox mode(saved) and just use the eye thingy to discover the whole map

there's a vanilla way to do it, if u find a hidden vent and go into priority overlay u can see a default 5, set it to yellow alert the alert will tell u wat vent is it without digging

Why bother with the atmo sensors on the vents? Regular vents overpressure at 2k anyways. Why use the refined metal?

Hey Gabby good question. I don't like the tiny red symbols popping up all the time when the vent overpressures. (this was before i used the mod to hide the symbols.) This way i reduced the amount of times i see the symbols. Also: refined metal is basically free later on in the game. And if i really need it i can just deconstruct the sensors.

@@Luma_plays oh good point. I know a lot of people use the supress notification mod because of that. I guess I tend to hoard refined metal until my metal refineries are fully loaded and I have access to metal volcanos. Thanks for the reply!

I have an idea! If you find a useless vent (CO2, maybe chlorine) on the exploit side, could you use the gas conversion exploit to convert it to a useful gas(hydrogen, or maybe even super coolant gas)?

i dont get it, if using a spom its not power positive, maybe a calc erroe, if using infinite bathroom, its still filtration medium dependant with 1/5 conversion rate, using polluted dirt, after the 1/5 with critters its another ,5 loss or no further mass loss wth compost.. so.. from 1000 filtration medium to 200 and hot dirt or 100 sand ... how is this self sustainable?

I am not sure if this is a question? A SPOM should be a self powered oxygen maschine (which technically need a minumum amount of generators to supply everything from pumps to electrolysers) The larger the more energy positive they are. The smaller, the harder it is to make them self powered. They never were self sufficient. Only self powered. Self sufdiciency needs additional setups that themselves can be powered or supplied by other setups. Or even be powered by larger spoms. So if you want a self sufficient self powered oxygen system that would be way more conplex (we can call it a SSSPOM). But that would more or less describe the whole game. Fix an issue create new ones fix them again until you eventuelly find a recource loop that works and need several setups. There are not much recource loop setups that can just jump to endgame immediately. I hope that helped explain the spom (in general) if that was your question

If you mean the pneumatic doors -> they are cheaper than 2 (airflow)tiles. Saves metal and is quicker to build.

Any submerged electrolyzer can run non stop without overpressure pauses. Meaning they produce 888g of oxygen per second. A normal dupe on normal difficulty uses 100g per second. So it is enough for 8.8 Duplicants and you will need 2 gas pumps to pump the gas since every pump can only pump 500g per second (add some automation or a gas valve so you do not draw a vacuum)

@@prestonarsenault9975 Just to be save: I added a valve to the oxygen pipe later on set to 888g per second so you don't draw a vacuum. you couod also have an atmo sensor in the oxygen part that only activates the pumps when there is at least 2kg of O2

@@Luma_plays Added a second Hydrogen Gen on it's own battery/power to add some power to my main grid and still manage to stay well above 100kg of hydrogen at all times, even under heavy load. Plus I'm over 2054.8KG of Oxygen now xD Damn good little spom here even by itself without the second unit.

Hey Hugo, i would like to help but i don't know what you mean with "liquid just flows down and can't pile it up". If you dump in a heavy / dense liquid like saltwater or better crude oil and then water on top 1 bottle 200kg of each for example then the layers automatically form. In seldom cases there a re issues when you are not playing in the current update or if you try building them on a tertiary planet. (sometimes the liquids move with the gas on those planets)

@@Luma_plays I dumped polluted water, formming 2 tiles with 200kg each and after I dumped water(about 3 kg total), but the layer didn't form I'll try using crude oil.

Hey @@hugohamano8778 200kg per tile is (probably) to much. But that doesn't influence the forming of a second layer. that should always happen. Check with "F4" and cklick on liquids if you can see a second liquid layer. This is a basic ONI physics function. if that is broken (in your save file or the version of your game) you will have more problems than creating a spom. I had a save file once where nosh sprouts in a fridge made the game freeze. If you still have issues you can swing by the discord and we help you there with screenshots or you share your world in the video channel. Hope we can help
