Jim, Thanks for taking your time to review these pellets. Turman's are my choice of pellet as well with great heat and super low ash. I have a Harman 52i as well as a Harman P43 and I like to try to burn a couple bags of each before I commit to a ton or more. I have tried close to 25 different pellets both hardwood as well as softwood and come back to Turman with Vermont Wood Pellets being a close second. Douglas Fir are a great pellet but the Turman's are just as as low on ash and almost the same heat at $75 less a ton so it's a no-brainer. All pellet prices have skyrocketed with Covid in 2020 so buy what you can, when you can.

thanks. There is one in my town called EZ BLAZE. Its the most expensive here and I dont use them. I use the Lignetics white bag and get a pretty good blue flame, but wow, its the lowest on your list. It can only get better for me here then. I am in Maryland. I get my pellets at ACE, because ACE is the place for me. lol. Been heating with pellets since 2007. I have a Lennox Winslow PS40 stove. At first I tried various brands of hardwood pellets purchased at the big box retailers, hardware chains, TSC, and a local farm supply store. The stove performed OK heat wise with hardwoods but the heavy ash output and high cleaning maintenance on the stove and venting was annoying. About 4-5 years ago I switched to softwood pellets only and will never go back to hardwoods again. The price for softwood pellets is higher but well worth it. Way less ash to deal with, a much cleaner burn, and higher heat output.

very informative video! just picked up 10 bags of barefoot pellets pretty popular around here because i actually work in troy, pa where they are made. I had been using the green supremes for about 2 months now and the ash pot gets so full daily that if the stove turns off it wont relight because of the build up. I looked up the turmans but they seem to be about 100$ more a ton so im gonna give the barefoots a try.

Jim. Were all pellets hardwood? Each test was with a 40# bag? I burned Bear Mountain Douglas Fir (8600+ BTU) in my Harman Absolute43 and got too much hard clinker buildup. I’m going to get the Heartland/Western Elite which is 8500+ BTU with a fluffy ash. I burn the Marth hardwood (8000+ BTU) during the shoulder season, in WI. If you can find in your area try Somerset pellets. They are the best I have ever use. The company that makes them has a mill that makes oak flooring and they use the saw dust to make the pellets. What here the price per bag if you were buying pallet? I’ve been buying mostly Easy Heat which is out of Ohio. Price is about 15% less then “premium” brands carried in NE Ohio. They seem to be middle of the road but for saving 15% I’ll deal with a little extra ash. Now bought some cheap pellets from TSC and I swear the ash was 1.5X and caked ash all over.

@@DIYJIM it's the weirdest thing I have ever seen it's not even halfway full of Ashes yet and it's still going I use a bag a day it runs all day and night pretty much. With the other bags it would use a bag and a half to run day and night this is mind blowing to me and the Heat is really good it warms up the house more better more consistent. I wish I would have recorded this because it's kind of unbelievable. Well if you have a Quadra Fire pallet stove Green Supreme is the way to go. I will let you know when it's full of Ashes but I think I'm probably going to have to clean the inside of it because on my pellet stove there's a huge plate in the back that needs to be removed and cleaned out every now and then I'll let you know what that looks like when I do. Maybe the ashes are light and are blowing out the chimney? I don't know very strange

I’ve used 2 tons of hammers this year. The first one was great. The second one was horrible. It seemed like there was moisture in them. There was lot of disintegrated ones in each bag. They didn’t burn rite. I’m assuming it was a bad batch. I get them from true value for 300 a ton I’m right outside of Harrisburg pa.

Jim, we are about an hour from you. Just put a new P68 in our basement yesterday. Right now it is not finished, but we are planning to start next year. Just wanted to take advantage of the tax credit at 26%. We have been watching your videos. 1st 24 hrs and we have burned 3 bags of pellets!!! We have the feed at 4, constant burn 4 and fan at 1/2 speed. Basement is 75-78 degrees depending on where we are at, upstairs right now is 71 with it being 55 deg outside was 30 in the morning. There are no vents in the floor yet, and are planning on installing a fresh air kit when it comes in. We need help with lowering our consumption. Do we just slow down the feed limit or adjust other controls. Everyone else we have talked to about this just says to play with it which I get but how many bags will that take? We are burning pellets from the Wood Pellet Co. We got a 1/2 ton free with our stove from the dealer. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Did you watch How I heat my house with a pellet stove kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7unnpSh0bHXdJc.html or how I set my Harman kzfaq.info/get/bejne/isiEd9uf18WYcWQ.html I also have a digital thermostat connected to my stove kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qbePnb2fxLLHcWg.html let me know if any of this helps. I never burn at constant burn, if I do that I burn a lot more pellets.

Yes we did. Just looking for some input after. We put on constant burn per our dealer. He said we should never run temp mode in the basement, but I guess we will give it a try.

After running the stove at 68 deg we got about 36 hrs on 2 bags. Upstairs was about the same. This is only relying on the basement door being open. Floor vents are in the future. We wished that this would have come in earlier when it was real cold out to see what it would really do. Ceiling fans blowing up seem to keep the heat in the basement. Might just be bc it's the only opening right now. Your videos are great! Keep them coming and thanks for the info!

@@DIYJIM I tried Barefoot last year and wasn’t as happy with them as Truwood. A friend of mine used the Hammers Hot Ones and was happy. One thing I will say is the Hammers pellet length tends to run shorter than Truwood in the couple bags that I opened. That should help with not getting those temporary jams once in awhile I would think. Also I believe there is quite a bit of oak in the Hammers.
