Just learned of this amp, and found your channel through searching for information on it. Great review. Subscribed. I've just sold off my vintage gear, picked up a pair of Sonus Faber Signums, and thought I was sold on the Prima Luna Evo 300. Obviously that's a great amp, but it's more than double the Heaven 11 Billie. Oh, the decisions... Oh, and thanks for the sound staging details... very helpful. Update: Bought the Heaven11 Billie. Lots to say but the summary is... superb value. Sweet high fidelity.

I'm so very glad to see products like this! We are in a new age of audio, were almost anyone can afford to hear music with very high quality components! I'm also very happy to see that this amp is from my home country! Keep up the great work! P.S: Have you ever wondered about, or tried bi-amping a pair of speakers with a tube amp driving the top end and a class D amp driving the bottom end?

I have done that. It's been a long time since I did that test/demo, but I did do it with a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 800 Diamonds, as well as (I think) a pair of Focal something or other, but again, this was a long time ago. It was nice however! Thanks for watching!

Hi. I am wondering how you think a Heaven 11 Billie integrated mark II would work with a KLH model 5 speakers? For reference I have a Moon i-3 that has no digital options. I am thinking swapping the moon i-3 for a Billy integrated Mark 2. Have you both tried out the Billie with the KLH model 5s? The new model has a remote now too.

Hi Andrew, my Billie Amp just arrived here in Australia, really looks the part. Now I am researching what speakers would be most suitable with it. I noticed some reviewers have mentioned the new Triangle BR03 as a good companion. I am also looking at the Harbeth P3SER and the Dynaudio Special 40s, do you have guidance on what would be a good choice please? Many thanks again for your great reviews and the time taken in creating them, much appreciated. Cheers, Alan.

Excellent review. Being Canadian I wish this company much success. This integrated Amp is a little to minimalist for me. I want Tone controls: Base and Treble. I want more power at least 100WPC into 8 ohms. I don't want an integrated Phono Preamp. I prefer a separate Phono Preamp so that I know where my money is going and so I can upgrade in the future. I want "a" and "b" speaker selectability.

B is supposed to be the output side of a component, a B cable should always have an A as its input end. Meaning if a computer was supposed to be your output device, it's the one that should have the B socket, if anything. In addition, B is essentially extinct these days. There is a USB C socket on the device, marked "update" but I have no idea what it's supposed to do, or what it connects to.

@andrewrobinsonreviews
@andrewrobinsonreviews 4 жыл бұрын
No, the "hiss" you are hearing has nothing to do with software. It may be your power, the amp or any number of things. If your loudspeakers are more efficient (95dB or higher) then hiss is going to be more pronounced. If you can hear it from several feet away (i.e. from your listening position) then it's a problem. If you only hear it when you press your ear to the speaker's grille then it's not something to worry about.

class a/b does not in any way shape or form go deeper or hit harder than class D amps. if anything, depending on the speakers, class D can be superior due to the high damping factor. they chose weak ICE modules... they come in many different output power varieties, and 60w is the lowest powered ICE module I've ever heard of. usually they're known for high power numbers. this is an incredible amp and actually a rare and remarkable value in hifi given the built in DAC, tube preamp, phono preamp, and bluetooth. i would totally want one if it had more power. like 2x MINIMUM, preferably more. the price difference for the raw ICE modules isn't very much between the different power options, compared to the retail price. they could have made it cost another one or two hundred dollars and had way more power.

Sorry Andrew ! Ice power amps are not really the best class D components anymore. You should have an eye on the new AD class amps. They are both really smooth, detailed and able to output, if required, very well controlled cataclysmic bass. As a very happy owner of a pair of bridged Nuprime AMG STA, i can tell you that they outputs some of the most delicate and powerful sound even eared to date. They can be very versatile too in regard of the DAC sound signature used to empower them (both smoothy english and US rock solid ways to go on demand). The new PS Audio Stellar product line, the Rose Audio one are probably good candidate too. Kind Regards

I'm curious to know if that's where you do all your critical listening? I don't see a rug, bass traps or even wall treatments and there are uncovered glass windows. I could even sometimes hear an echo to your voice. I'm not sure that lends itself to a fair review of the product. However, it is almost advertised as a living room amp on their website. Also, it would be nice to actually hear the amp because there was some ambiguity in your descriptions. "I think I heard a difference with tubes." "The phonostage is rather great." "I wouldn't' say I dislike the negatives but they may be deal breakers." I will say that their design is one of the best I've seen ever. Especially in black. Unfortunately this review leaves me still on the fence. Hopefully they'll listen to feedback if they decide to do separates in the future.

Everyone would likely prefer their electronics to cost half as much as they do regardless of the manufacturer or specs. I'm sure Heaven 11 sold their initial offerings at roughly cost to supporters in order to raise the funds needed to do a full fledged production run. If you were among those early adopters you no doubt got a deal, but that doesn't or shouldn't take away from the product now. Plus, we're talking about a low volume, boutique product, you have to expect a mildly higher price point just based on sheer manufacturing numbers. Thanks for watching.
@GlaciaDay
@GlaciaDay 4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Robinson This is a pretty fair point to make. But the problem is if the buyers who most likely paid $1500 for the product later found out it was originally going for $600, and even second hand prices are based on the crowdfunding price, what would they think about the product and the manufacturer. This is not a healthy way to maintain a good reputation imo. I have backed multiple products on Kickstarter, most of them would see a price increase of like 20%-30% after the crowdfunding ends. Which in this case, almost triple the price.

There is a big red flag with this product that is not being addressed. The preamp is almost surely not class AB, but class A, because that is the norm with tube preamps, and class AB in a preamp would diminish the sound quality and require more tubes. The 12BH7 tube is not a high mu tube and is not known to be a quiet tube, and that is probably why I've never seen it before used in a front end situation. Furthermore, most tube phono preamp sections require both of the triodes found in a dual envelope tube like the 12BH7, so there is no tube left over to front the AUX inputs for digital sources. It is highly unlikely that your non-phono signal passes through any tubes at all because I can see how much tube this unit has. It is misleading to call this a hybrid. A hybrid is usually a power amp that is all tube except for the final stage which is usually mosfet. That is not the case. Almost surely only the phono signal passes through any tubes at all. What you have is a solid state power amp to which a tube phono section was added. The AUX inputs probably plug directly to the solid state power amp. Highly misleading if I am right about the topology. Such red flags should have been clarified at the get-go. "Smooth" is a description that is meaningful for speakers where rough frequency response irregularities are common, but not in amplifiers where they are not. All amps are smooth, so to speak. Frequency response irregularities are minuscule in most amps and are not rough in nature even when they exist, so "smooth" is not often used to distinguish one amp from the next. "Grain" is not the opposite of "smooth". Grain is the fading clarity and encroaching veil that fights transparency.

Cary, I just ask Heaven 11 team about your concern and get the answer that ALL inputs will go through the tubes ! Exact answer: « All the inputs go through the tubes. As an experiment, if you take out the left tube, you will not have any sound on the left channel, no matter what the input ;-) Even the headphone out and pre output get the tube sound. Furthermore, the bluetooth uses our DAC not the one that came with that chip. »

The design is stolen from the Japanese Elekit 22 TuTu amplifier. So nothing new in the exterior look.

Why should we trust you? They sent you the amp! You most likely will keep it…. If not this product, then most definitely many others. You never give a bad review! So why should anyone trust you or many others reviewers on YT who do the same thing? You guys clearly have a conflict of interest. Had you bought the unit and then reviewed it, then it your review would be relevant. As it stands, your review should be ignored by anyone with common sense!
