Whenever I see beautiful warm rays of light breaking through a cloudy sky, it makes me feel like I am witnessing the peaceful loving light of heaven shining down on this world. However, my new song “Heaven’s Light” was inspired by the light of heaven not that I have witnessed in the skies, but that I have witnessed through the amazing life of my mother.
I believe that I have witnessed heaven’s light through the remarkable life and personality of my wonderful mother, Marilyn Tolk. My mother, a concert pianist and graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, has had such a profound impact upon my endeavors as a composer and musician. From a very young age, she taught me to love and revere the music of the great classical composers. I would not have been able to compose the music I have released over the years without the amazing musical influence of my mother. That being said, my mother’s greatest influence has been the result of what I believe to be heaven’s light emanating from her countenance. My mother’s life has been devoted to selflessly using her remarkable talents to bless the lives of everyone around her. Many people have had the experience of being around an individual who truly exudes goodness, kindness, and love. I have been fortunate to be blessed with such a person as my own mother. “Heaven’s Light” is dedicated to my wonderful, talented, loving mother. I am so inspired by her example of always seeing the best in every person and situation. I would not be the person that I am without her amazing influence and example.
“Heaven’s Light” features the cello artistry of Nicole Pinnell and my daughter Mackenzie Tolk’s heavenly vocals. It is my hope that you will feel peace, love, and a connection with heaven as you listen to “Heaven’s Light.”
