I'm 72 years old, born in NYC. Thought I heard it all but never heard most of the the great music featured on this channel. Showed up in my mixes, glad I clicked to hear.

Move it forward 11 years, swap the organ for a Roland synth, and this could be a Joy Division track

The songs vary, but the vids are always good. Bring me back to my early teens 😊

First heard this as a high point of the DJ Shadow Essential Mix in 2003 on BBC Radio1 but never knew what it was called. Thanks HBO !

Yes I too loved those Essential mix sets on radio 1. I found out about so many songs from them. The DJ Shadow & David Holmes sets were my favourite I think.

Dark, mean and broody Texan Psych. Scary but nice. Thanks.

Amazing song The year might had been 1968, but it sounds like it was released during the New Wave era, so far ahead of its time!!

Yes , finally you made it , a fine video for this cool and obscure garage-psych classic ! Yesterday's Obsession had made only one single , but wow what a great one ! 'The Phycle' sounds like a trip experience , very freaky but peaceful !Together with the fitting footages it's a masterpiece ! Thank you very much HBO and btw a Merry Christmas ! P.S. one must ask how many informations/experiences are passed on through the genes ?

I’ve heard so much psych, particularly in the mid 80s when psych-oriented friends and l put together psych party tapes to kick off parties - wow, this is wild, and new to me.

Brilliant record , i always wondered if Ian Curtis / Joy Division boys were hip to this .
@berndjenter40057 ай бұрын
Sorry , Joy Division were great , but they didn't come close to the atmosphere of this song !

Very interesting comment.....I am a fan of JD....I will do some digging on web....
@michaelgarvey21487 ай бұрын
@@berndjenter4005 i never sought to compare the two bands, you made that tenuous leap . I pondered if Ian Curtis or members of JD knew of this song / band , influences in music can be both conscious & unconscious .
@Ridersonthestorm88994 ай бұрын
@@michaelgarvey2148For sure I could imagine Ian slipping this on between The Doors and The Velvets for sure.

Hi Marc, you mention two great novels there! Hermann Hesse is my favourite writer. I have read almost all his books and have them all on my bookshelf as well. Cheers! EJ

Thrilling GaragePsych with cool vid! The band's name seems to be a contraction of two Stones' songs? 😅

It's Crazy How my Friends Thought this was only 10 or so years old. No it's the 60s man where ppl had to come up with ideas. Kinks cutting the speaker Ringo With Towels on Drums and 13th floor Elevators with the Jug. Love The Garage Band Scene Cause it's just different. Also it seemed every one had a gimmick The Smoke had That crazy guitar thing with my friend Jack and used it through the whole album or Electric Prunes With there whole stick. 1 request Peanut Butter Conspiracy any one will do my good man
