Cars had character ! Every year, people would line up at dealerships when they would showcase the new fall models. Cars were shipped wrapped in cloth to build public anticipation . These weren't just cars, they were sculptures on wheels. I miss seeing the streets full of these exotic masterpieces . It was really something ! You get a small feeling of what it was like in the Movie "Vertigo" by Alfred Hitchcock with James Steward .Beautiful scenes of American cars in that film. peace

Back in the 1950s car styling was at its best. Car manufacturers even made significant styling changes from one year to the next to make next years car look new, even if it was the same basic car. Today most cars have this plain aerodynamic design, where they all look similar. Cars are no more a work of art.

aldof hister get real. Climate change is a Marxist hoax. You really going to tie a 50’s car to the lies you believe? You are an example of how dumbed down your generation is. Here is what is going to happen to the planet soon: 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

I would say to hell with all of those things. Earth will continue to evolve as it has done for millions and millions of years. At the beginning it has a CO2 atmosphere and vegetation had a field day; the O2, a powerful oxidant , came along and new species learned to breath it to thrive. Tomorrow, perhaps, we will be inmersed in an SO2 cloud and life will continue albeit in a different form. It is not about saving Earth but our carcasses but after all we cannot expect to live forever, do we? Merry Christmas!11

I owned this actual car in the Seattle area for 20 years. ( late 80s on ) It was my rockabilly time machine. It was just a nice condition driver then, and I would never have been able to afford this amazing restoration. I am able to recognize it by the knight helmet on the dash ashtray. I saved it from the shriveled foam cushion covering the steering wheel, and mounted it there. I see the new owner did not keep my CRAMPS bumper sticker. Oh well, I am glad it found such a loving home

A true work of art on wheels. The rear and tail lights are one of a kind. The hub caps are also one of a kind. High school kids would steal those off the the Dodge in the early 60's, they were fabulous. Wish I had the Royal Custom Lancer.

My grandad had a 1957 Coronet, D-500. It was a 4 door, AT. My Mom used to drive it...said it had a ton of power. So, years later, I had a 1970 Chevelle, 406 SB, turbo 350, 12", 323 gears. She loved to drive it...she was in her mid 50s. I showed her how to burn the tires...EVERY time she pulled out, there was a burn out...the neighbors were shocked she did it. But, if possible, I would love to have a 57-59 Corner, or Lancer.

Mr, Virgil Exner, thank You FOR THIS AND MANY OTHERS, Mr Exner and His staff at Chrysler gave us all of this beautiful art, I saw a clip the other day showing off a 1960 Dodge Matador, as gorgeous if not prettier than this car, they were all so commonplace back then, people thought they were just ugly old tanks, and a whole lot of the " futuristic" rocket to the moon ideas were a long way off, too far advanced, but nowadays all of it is commonplace, these cars werent just transportation, they were artistic masterpieces, I myself, own a '62 imperial, and a '63 imperial LeBaron, these are all FINE cars and have a ride like none other, and the luxury they posessed was far superior to many of todays cars, why, I can sit down and fully relax in the back seat of my '62 Imperial, that with my standing '6 "2, and still with it being a 2 door, I could go on for hours, thank you for showing us this beautiful car
