Heavy equipment/crane mechanic in Los Angeles and I never even use my snap on chrome sockets , waste of money . Everything I work on has tons of space so it was never an issue using the thick ole black sockets
@madjackgamingandfitness498

I’d say the only reason for chrome is when a fastener is in a deep area or tight space. I like my impact sockets and even the milwaukee kind are thinner, but even then they can’t fit where chrome can. I’ve caught myself making the mistake of taking my chrome sockets out when I thought I was done with them. It all depends on what you work on though you may not need them.

Started out with the same box. That's about how full mine was before I bought a 2nd hand snap-on box from my Matco man. Somebody had traded it in on a $7,000 wall box, so I got it for a steal. Always ask your tool man about trade in tools and boxes. You can usually get some great deals

Find yourself a good shop, soak up any info you can, and being willing to work hard and learn. People respect effort, whether you know the field or not coworkers will respect you if you work hard. You’ll learn the field over time, but starting with the broom and mop bucket isn’t a bad thing. Prove your worth and work hard man. If you enjoy hands on mechanical stuff it’ll be a blast even the not so exciting jobs.

I thinks it’s more to show how much you can store in a beginner’s toolbox. I work on a yard for the BNSF with 120 terminal trucks in our fleet. What he has in his tool cart could do 90% of the jobs on a regular basis. You don’t need a large toolbox to do your job. A harbor freight tool cart works just fine
