When I was younger I remember the river authority's regularly dredged our local river and took it to be dumped out at sea. The river was around 15 feet deep then , now when you look into the same river you can see the bottom at only of about 4 feet deep . They stopped doing it because they said it was detrimental to the wildlife. 🇬🇧

What a tragedy for all those affected by the storms. I hope they all have insurance and ways to pay for rebuilding and refurnishing their homes and also have safe warm places to stay that are affordable until then. A cautionary tale: Before buying a home (or business) make sure it's not in a flood zone or, even if not, make sure that your house/property will be as safe as possible from flooding. You never know now that the weather is becoming more and more unpredictable.
