“Is it happening today?” Luna asked without turning around, instead watching the sun she was currently rising. The sky was bright blue where she was looking, but a good part of the sky was still dark. The guards behind her stopped, then one of them said: “Yes. “We're sorry.” She sighed. Of course it was. The day of her execution. Since Cadence had died and the crystal empire had evacuated, the north borders of Equestria had been opened, leaving them free to be crossed by many beasts. At first the changes weren’t noticeable to anypony, but as the months passed Luna started to notice a strange pattern popping up. Random ponies, most of which were living somewhere near Canterlot, had started to suddenly shift. Not in any physically noticeable way, but they started spreading rumors about Luna, Shining Armor and other ponies of high status. What was more concerning though, was that the public believed them. Out of nothing Luna was overrun with complaints about her rule - some said she was making the days progressively shorter (Something which was blatantly untrue, as Luna took great care to be on schedule when it came to managing the celestial bodies), others even accused her of stealing from her citysens. Luna did her best to brush off the remarks, but they still weighed on her. She only wanted the best for Equestria, to do her sister justice - the grief about Celestia’s death weighed on her like a dark shadow. With a deep sigh she faced the guards, leaving the sun in its not fully risen spot. “Do you need to tie me up?” She asked, a stern expression on her face. They both shook their heads in unison. “I doubt that will be necessary.” said the pegasus who had also spoken before. The castle was encased in an anti-magic shield, save the balcony from which Luna managed the sun and moon - though that was protected in different ways. The guards knew that Luna couldn’t shoot any magic at them, couldn’t fly, couldn’t even try to run - her hooves were bound together by thick chains, only loose enough to allow her to move slowly through the empty halls of the castle. Anything faster than a trot would cause her to stumble and fall. Luna was held prisoner, something she was painfully aware of. As the rumors had spread, riots had started to pop up everywhere. Luna did her best to investigate the exact causes through trusted agents, but even those started slowly turning on her. When Luna walked the streets in those times - not that she had done that often - she’d seen a deep hatred in the ponies around her. Something about them was off - maybe it had been their eyes, Luna wasn’t sure. One night Luna had been woken up by a strange noise. She had not expected anything to come from it, but as it turned out those fateful moments changed the way she understood the situation completely. She had seen a lone guard sneaking around a hallway, when suddenly they changed. Literally - the insect-like wings and hole-filled hooves that hadn’t been there moments ago - that guard was a changeling. It didn’t take long for the disguised creatures patrolling the streets to notice the fact that Luna had found them out… and that was how she ended up here. A changeling infestation most certainly wasn’t what she had expected to happen next, but there she was. About to be executed by her own folk, which had been carefully orchestrated to bring their own rulers demise. The last princess to fall… Focus on the stairs. She told herself. There’s just the stairs. It doesn’t matter what’s beneath them on the castle grounds… it doesn’t matter. She tried desperately to get her mind off of what was about to happen. The inevitable. The guard in front of her stopped, and Luna dared to look up. They were standing in front of the castle, on a raised platform surrounded by more guards. Luna was sure at least half of them were changelings. In the middle of the plateau there was a pile of wood - Luna recognised it as a stake, though those hadn’t been used in equestria for the longest of times. She was half led, half pushed onto the stake, forced to stand up on her hind legs and bound to a wooden beam sticking out slightly from the rest of the pile. The chains on her hooves were removed - not that that could help her in any way. Beneath the plateau she could make out faces - oh, so many faces of ponies she’d known, ponies she’d barely met, even complete strangers… all watching her, expecting the spectacle that would be her demise. She hung her head, let out a breath, then composed herself again. If she was meant to go this way, so be it. She was not going to leave this world defeated. She would show strength, and shine, shine the same way her sister always had. Though the situation was desperate for Equestria, she would not go down without a fight. Determined, she looked at the crowd. Their faces were filled with sadistic anticipation, their grins wide, as they expected the princess they believed to be tyrannical to be brought down… One of the guards was holding a lit torch. She slowly and ceremoniously approached the platform, holding the fire in her mouth, then, she let go. It took mere seconds for the stake to burst into flames. Unbearable heat surrounded Luna, bathing her body in a fire - a sensation not meant to be experienced by any pony. Her blood started boiling as wet blisters started covering her skin. She screamed in pain. Her lower hooves were charred and black, her meat burnt to ash as her bones turned a bleached white, then a dark black. The fire crept up her body, and as her tail burst into flames, the foul stench of burning hair struck her nostrils. She tried to catch a breath, but the poisonous smoke filled her lungs. Her mind started to muddy, but just as she was about to lose consciousness, another wave of pain coursed through her. The flesh melted off, exposing the soon blackened muscle beneath. The light blinded her, and she screamed without a sound, her voice being replaced by the roaring of the fire as her lungs collapsed. She could take no more. This was it. This was the end… of Equestria.

Burns don't actually bleed - the vessels are cauterized before they can do so. Her struggling might have caused the wounds to open, however... So in certain places it would bleed I suppose

A little time has passed since the last of the cmc has died, and babs legend was true! "Is it happening today?" Said luna. Celestia thought she could at no but instead she said yes. It was the day of lunas execution. All expect for the mane 6, the princesses, the last cmc, and the legends who saved everyone from queen chrysails, all despise her. "we must hide in the safe place!" Celestia said " lets go to my students school to be safe! ". Luna agreed and together they teleport to twilights schools bunker. Before the sisters knew it, Luna was weakly looking at celestia and last thing she heard before she passed out is this. " LUNA!!!!!" Luna woke up by the words by the executioner " Luna, the fact your spying on everyone in canterlot, we chose to end your reign. " then she replied " wait what!?!". First, they stabbed celestia, injuring her to prevent her from saving her sister, then they grabbed a torch and set it on fire. Before it happened, Luna thinked this is it, the first princess to fall. Luna screamed in pain when the executioner burned her. Celestia was also screaming but a little quieter. Luna knew she would die the same way as Nicholas, her childhood friend, but in a different execution type than she was no more. Celestia morned in tears as lunas life slipped away but she is saved by candence, her niece. The tombstone read this Luna 1594 - 2023 The moon will not last forever Than means nightmare moon will never return again but the nightmare is still here. Flurry is next.
