Those A.L.E. trojan horses are sooo cool. To be honest the whole setup is amazing.... apart from the fence, still they're probably insured...and it gives the highway lads some work ! ;))

Shame the camera wasn't moved to somewhere further from the fence to allow us to see more clearly what was happening on that corner.

i wonder how many all electric trucks would be needed to do this job? seeing as they want only eletric vehicles by 2023 in the UK!!
@AintBigAintClever5 жыл бұрын
Probably not as many as you'd think, when you consider that many locomotives and dumper trucks are either electric or diesel-electric (where the diesel engine drives a generator and motors drive the wheels). There are 3300hp diesel-electric locos in use in the UK and 5400hp electric locos.
@sj-qn4uy5 жыл бұрын
@@AintBigAintClever BUT i was talking about the government wanting only all electric vehicles by 2023, NOT DIESEL/ELECTRIC .

well in the 950s and 1960s we were talking of NUCLEAR cars. so there's hope yet XD

With electric trucks, each axle has its own motor on axle itself. From what I've heard, they're more powerful, not less.
@simonjackson72693 жыл бұрын
Electric motors have incredible torque right though their power range.... the problem will be where will the power come from??? I suspect hybrid systems will be used with very clean smaller generator motors...

Great footage. Wonder why so many complete stops. Are the tractors automatics or is there a clutch taking all the massive load ?

There are SO many things they can hit from all posible sides of the vehicle(s) that they need to make sure everything is clear (walls, Traffic lights, buildings or anything that can damage the vehicle or the cargo)

See those trailes are built just for maybe 1 time use not that one but some are spend a mill to move a transformer just in building a trailer
@billtorrance31614 жыл бұрын
That trailer has been a round for a very long time. ALE grew out of GEC Distribution Services and that trailer was in use by them in the 1980s. I drove one of the big Fauns with that rig around the site roads at GEC Trafford Park in 1990 or thereabouts

it said smarter safer stronger .it broke the fence
@MeetDannyWilson7 жыл бұрын
It is *smarter* to break the fence, because it makes the customer happy if he gets that thing with delay to the destination. It is *safer* for everybody, because it gets that thing off the road fast. And it is definitely *stronger* than that fence. SCNR :-D

We use movement orders in this country, if that is deemed the best route then that is usually the beat route available which may mean having to remove certain street furniture to begin with.

Why do they need such large trucks?, all the trucks and equipment used to haul one of these loads looks heavier then the actual load itself.
@danielrose13926 жыл бұрын
You want your load as low as possible to fit underneath the bridges. You can't have tires under your load. You want to use 28 axles (hope i did not miscount) to spread your load not to crush the road underneath. This way you end up with an unpropelled trailer with a weight of 165t which can carry up to 500t. Any shorter configuration would either lift the load or have less axles. The trucks are heavy, but they basically don't count. If ever they would exceed your weight restrictions on a bridge, you attach them with a longer boom or winch the trailer and the trucks easily fit wherever the trailer fits. Often they tow an additional truck just to be on the safe side.
