Unlimited budget, unlimited resources, unlimited possibilities. The Cybertruck is super heavy from the start. R&D for some serious out of the box engineering. Awesome to watch. Sticking those treads out 16 to 18 inches is a tremendous lever with all the weight of that truck. I can't imagine the torque loads on the suspension in that configuration.

That's what I was thinking, too. With a build like this, I'd want custom CNC-machined billet arms to avoid this exact thing happening.

Most regular trucks have no problem with this. The Cyber truck is just weak.
@erichancock6815
@erichancock6815 5 ай бұрын
@@jesperwall839 those kinds of spacers, and/or deeply offset wheels put the same kind of ridiculous overhung load on spindles & such, wearing out ball joints or worse much faster than normal. Also, it may be 'weak' from the factory, as many vehicle components are- especially when new, but that's the "joy" of R&D.
@benlzicar7628
@benlzicar7628 5 ай бұрын
@@jesperwall839 bruhhh.. the CG of those tracks is out like 2-3ft from the factory wheels, most mall crawlers put 3-4" spacers and a slight offset and call it a day. Any vehicle especially one with IFS would fold like a pretzle with a similar setup, especially if it weighed the >8k lbs the cybetruck does. With that being said, the A frame design on the cybertruck is absolute shit, a Toyota Camry has a more beefy design.

You have so much extra leverage on that suspension part since you extended the hub and moved the tracks that far out. It's simply not designed for that. There is a great business opportunity for someone to design and fabricate all those parts as a kit for the Cybertruck.
@eprofengr6670
@eprofengr6670 5 ай бұрын
Yes, very true. Ideally, a whole set of more robust parts can be made to accommodate this application. Also, it may be a good option for very hard core off-roading with either bigger tires, or stock tires.

Yup. Bits that were designed to deal with essenitally a vertical load are now seeing a major shear load from all that leverage. I'd be worried about the frame around the upper wishbone tearing itself apart without any reinforcement

The cost of manufacturing wouldn't even be worth it for the ONE person who would buy a Cybertruck to convert to this. If you want a Snowcat for the snow - you buy a purpose built machine. No one that could purchase a Cybertruck would buy this.

The wide tracks, and pushing back against that angle of the spindle is MASSIVE ammount of preasure and leverage... I saw that snapping and thinking it was going to be the FIRST thing to snap... I though, all its going to take is the outside of that track to go up a rock or something, and SNAP that very tall spindle fast.... That is going to require a full heavy duty custom spindles to work right..

The wrap makes it look sooo much better. Those custom made parts for the suspension are going to be copied by every aftermarket supplier out there - the extra loading out sideways of the tracks, it's a lot of leverage.
