In honor of this review, I will be nerfing the Genius for the next update :^)

Psi Demons are basically just Archviles in terms of how the game uses them. They force you to take cover and prioritize them as well as having a distracting/disrupting attack that hinders one's vision. The core difference is that the Psi demon just hits really hard in comparison to the Archvile though even that may be incorrect as I don't remember how much damage an Archvile did. I mainly remember being unable to see with the flames taking up 2/3 of the screen and the annoying sound effect it made.

So compared to civvi's coverage, I am glad you are talking a lot more about the puzzle like qualities of the game. Combined with your review of crystal heart, I am getting more of a hexen vibe than I anticipated, and that is 100% my jam. I think you have convinced me to pick this up!

As far as a Hedon III goes or whatever project Zan himself has planned for perhaps he could make his next game in a modernized fan made version of the Vanilla Quake engine.

Hey, KIRK! As always, fantastic review! It's plain to see that you pour your heart and soul into this one, and that you enjoyed the game a lot! Hedon Bloodrite is one of my favorite boomer shooters alongside Ashes: Afterglow (please review this one too? :P). I have some feedback about a few points in the video. 11:32 Hmm, I don't see how that is a problem. That Psi Demon's attack is just like the Arch-vile's from DOOM II. You have to take cover to avoid their deadly attacks and also prioritize them over everything else, for that very reason. They give you enough time to find a safe spot before the attack is triggered, which requires good movement, spatial awareness, and timing. Yes, there can be other projectiles flying toward you, but, no, you don't have to stop just because you are behind cover, you can still dodge while behind walls and pillars. You can time the triggering of the attack while still on the move and only get behind cover when it's about to trigger, it just requires practice. I do agree that the skull can be obstructive, though. You also said that they are weak to the axe, so that is an option to deal with them. The Psi Crown is an item to help deal with them, as you mentioned in the video, but that's just one item, you have several at your disposal to be used in battle, it doesn't have to be one specifically for dealing with them. It's easy to keep hoarding items in Hedon 1 and 2, so use the ones you have to help defeat them first before dealing with the other enemies. I know that you mentioned two times that Hedon Bloodrite was released for free. Actually, it was released as a free *update* to Hedon 1 owners on Steam, and the package (now Hedon Bloodrite, containing episodes 1 and 2) had its Steam price increased when the update hit. In the way that you said that in the video, it's easy to get the idea that Hedon Bloodrite was released as a free game when that's not the case. I hope I didn't sound harsh or anything. I love your channel, and you deserve way more success! When I see a KIRK video, I happily click! Can't wait to see what you release next!

the lack of knowing where to go or what to do is what dropped my personal score for this game. Instead of loving it I simply liked it a lot. I wish there was more to indicate what the hell I'm supposed to be doing in some of these humongous maps and intricate quests. Besides that big flaw this game is a treat.

I can agree on the dragging bits with some puzzles, but Usually you dont need those to complete the game itself. Secret hunting tho...

The Genius/Gargoyles are not really that hard to deal with. Let them come and use the ax. They're pretty weak to melee attacks.

I guess Hedon: Bloodrite's Geniuses make the 1997 game Blood's Standard Gargoyles look like the attack dogs from Wolfenstein 3D in comparison!
