hedorah is underrated

Hedorah is one of the most interesting monsters to me. It inspired me to make my own monsters based on pollution, which Hedorah is a sludge monster, my monsters was based on different types of pollution.

When I was a kid the scene where Hedorah flew over the city emitting its toxic fumes freaked me right the hell out! Watching all those people just drop to the ground and dissolve into green skeletons was enough to make Hedorah one of my top ten kaiju.

Hedorah has a special place in my heart as this movie was the first Godzilla movie I ever watched over 20 years ago as part of a monster movie marathon. I was 5 back then and I'm still an avid fan sitting pretty at the ripe ol' age of 28. How many people can say Hedorah, out of all other Kaiju, changed their lives?

I always thought those orbs were eggs. I remember the AVGN said some people think they’re eyes but thought that was ridiculous. Then again...this is Hedorah. This movie is the weirdest next to Godzilla’s Revenge and Biollante.

Hedorah has to be one of the most influential Kaiju in the whole series. Destoroyah and Shin Godzilla are just two that come to mind which take a lot of inspiration from Hedorah's multiple forms and independent cells.

One of my very favorite Showa era kaiju, if not my favorite. I love this movie, since it's not typical Godzilla fare of the time; it's much creepier and darker in comparison, more brutally violent--as evidenced by Godzilla's injuries suffered while fighting Hedorah--and the score is spare and menacing to go along with it. Not to mention, even though drug laws in Japan are draconian compared to America, you have to wonder what the filmmakers were tripping on when they were making this movie. Obviously some good stuff! If they weren't on drugs, I dunno what to tell you, man! Fun fact: Banno-san got his revenge on Tomoyuki Tanaka by having a directing credit on the 2014 Legendary Pictures Godzilla, because as the story goes, Tanaka-san was so profoundly angered by the end product of "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" that he declared to Banno-san's face "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DIRECT ANOTHER GODZILLA MOVIE AS LONG AS I LIVE!" From a hospital bed, no less.
