It's also important to remember that the vast majority of borgs go psycho quickly. The fact that Smasher lasted 50-60 years as a borg and was still in complete control of himself (he was evil, but he was absolutely in control) is practically unheard of. Dude was built different.

Being called "Fuckable Meat" by Adam Smasher is probably the most terrifying threat ever voiced. Evelyn has great big balls of solid steel.

If you chose "THE DEVIL" ending and decide to "remain" with Arasaka you have the potential become Adam Smasher 2.0. They will just wake you up in the future in a body and you become their enforcer.. just like Adam.. It's a nice idea for a possible future game.

Fun Fact: if you equip the eye mod that highlights enemies that spot you during the heist, when Adam walks in the room while youre hiding inside the server holding the chip case with Jackie, Adam instantly notices you and looks at you the whole time but doesnt say anything.

The problem with Adam Smasher "lacking humanity" is that being intentionally evil is a specifically human trait. A machine would not kill innocents without a purpose, as that would be inefficent.

Smasher was pretty much the definition of a 'functioning' cyber-psychotic. He craved strength and permanence so badly that for him, becoming a full 'borg made his mind stronger, not more unstable (a frequent problem with cyber-psychosis is that the person, even simply heavily-borged like Royce, is shocked by how weak fleshy Humans are). He INSISTED that his missions have a high chance of collateral damage. He wanted to send a message: Flesh is weak, so employers who wanted to send brutal messages hired him (the hammer you mentioned? That had an Arasaka logo on the face so when he hit the target, it was CLEAR who killed them!).

Although he killed our favorite person in Edgerunner. I think Adam did David a favor by flatlining him because he knows that Arasaka will turn him into a weapon to use like how they did to him.

The fact that he's weaponizing cyberpsychosis is truly terryfying. The ultimate killing machine.

Man, Adam Smasher is badass. CDPR needs to flesh out more of Night City legends. We need more of them badass mercs, maaaan.

The more I hear about Adam smasher the more I like the guy he is an awesome villain

Adam Smasher was a street samurai and warrior, just for reference. He got military heavy and started playing with big guns and cybernetic enhancements after hitting literal rock bottom (per initial lore). Street goliath turned to splashed gore and strung matter, clinging to live by a string of arteries before Arasaka recovered him. Smasher wound up with PTSD the way someone who was just chainsawed from head to toe had felt and experienced, and the outcome was obvious. Take an unstoppable force and pit him against very movable flesh. They mishandled his story ultimately by lack of performance, but try to remember that this guy will enter a scene only to endeavor to be the last fragment of life around. Only a fragment, because by now he's almost entirely machine.

They seriously need to somehow patch or fix the game to actually INCLUDE STYLE and Reputation in-game. You go to Afterlife and its like the red sea parts.... because you become such a badass, or you hear people whisper about your completed jobs.. that would have been cool and more immersive than what we have right now. Hard to believe they left this out of the AI as the entire game revolves around REP and Style...

he's so terrifying in the lore and yet I can absolutely dumpster him with Uncommon Daemons in my Crit Runner build...

My V had metal in every slot; with the armor and strength enhancements, she was a slinky tank. The ability to jump higher was my favorite metal. There comes a point though, would I want V to be full conversion? No. It's like in Fallout 2 when you can have the subdermal armor upgraded until it's putting flesh into metal, not metal into flesh. The metal was always a tool, and V was always a person; first and foremost.

For those wondering, .666 cal is just a flea's hair shy of 17mm, nearly double a 9mm in diameter. What I'm curious about is how large the casings are and how much powder it would take to launch such a projectile. Definitely has to be Malorian if not a straight up in-house custom job.

would of been nice if Adam Smasher after you escape at the start. hunts you down throughout the city/gameplay. like the guy from resident evil Mr X . Then at the end keep the end fight. give him more game time.

Love when people discover lore that has been around for 25 years. Another bit of knowledge: The "Daioni" Assisted Combat Personal Armor was designed by Arasaka specifically for combat cyborgs. ACPAs are missing in CP2077 and I believe they would be an incredible addition to the game. About Morgan Blackhand not killing people: Here's a Morgan Blackhand quote from "Cybergeneration": "I've killed more people than the plague. I should change my name to Clint Eastwood".

I always found the concept of full borg transformation an interesting one, mostly because it is like begging for cyber-psychosis. Adam Smasher showcases though that some may as well be the goddamn tech priests from warhammer 40k. The flesh is weak, steel is unyielding. But lets be honest, he's just lying to himself at this point. Whatever shred of Adam there might have been before his borg conversion, its dead properly scrubbed and whipped out. If anything he may as well be called a goddamn mech instead of a borg at this point

There's some nuance to be had with Adam Smasher here. Is he just a lost cause, a killing machine with no thought left and no humanity like most of the cyberpsychos you run into? No, no he is not. It might seem like that at first glance, but that's too simplistic and writing off the nuance. If he was *_truly_* like that, then he wouldn't still be working with Arasaka and would have just either turned on someone when he finally had enough or he'd be an uncontrollable and dangerous loose cannon that Arasaka would just put down. The ironic thing is he still has *_some_* level of professionalism and control. He just doesn't go about killing subordinates because they're in the way or something ridiculously over-the-top like that. He doesn't go out murdering people for fun because that would just anger his employers. And, I mean, he even does things that someone that has no humanity would *_never_* do like with Smasher giving Johnny Silverhand's handgun to Jeremiah Grayson as a token of appreciation and trust. You don't do that if you're a mad dog, frothing at the mouth, that is a danger to everyone. That and Smasher's (one-sided, I might add) rivalry with Morgan Blackhand and how Smasher was infuriated that Blackhand really didn't care about competing with him but still respected him in a way due to his talent and work. I mean, sure, he'd fight and kill Blackhand if he got the chance, but he respected him as a worthy opponent and with some professional courtesy as a fellow merc. And if you really want to get analytical about it, I mean, start looking at other characters like Johnny Silverhand who... could be plenty psychotic and psychopathic. I mean, the man detonated a nuke in a city knowing that even if everyone evacuated in time (and he would've been beyond child-like naive to believe that and knew it wasn't possible) that untold thousands would die in the aftermath alone. Yet he did it anyways. And even Blackhand was involved with the op. So... honestly, Johnny probably ended up killing far more people than Adam Smasher has or even could unless he just dedicated the rest of his life to wanton slaughter without being put down. It was called the "Night City Holocaust" *_for a reason._* But, I digress. This doesn't mean Johnny Silverhand is a psychopathic murder machine just because he has a higher kill tally than Smasher. There's nuance to him. But... if you're just willing to boil it down, the same can be said for Johnny Silverhand as well. And Morgan Blackhand. And Rache Bartmoss. And plenty of other characters.

something the part about selling out to a company and becoming a borg made me think of, perhaps that can serve as a way to save Vs life (becoming a borg that is). a dlc could give missions regarding the aquiering of neccesary materiel to build a bio pod, then the "biological components" and then at last stealing a borg module from corp. here your lifepath could also have an effect, mainly the corpo since arasake being the shady company it is saves all data on it employees, past or present, on a black site which you have to raid to gather data neccesary to find a good "donor". your endings could also play a role here, you are locked into this path if you went the jhonny route, while the stay and leave endings offers alternative missions to attempt to find a cure if you do not wan't to go borg. But if you went with the devil engram ending you already become a borg, both to experiment in other ways to bring engrams into beings and also as a propper attemt to thank you for your efforts in bringin saburo back to life, perhaps orderd by hanako or even saburo himself, possebly influenced by takemure should he live. once all the tests are compleate you will be offerd a chance to buy yourself back (and keep the borg body) in exchange for compleating a mission/s (the kind jhon wick did to retire from the mob) or you can remain in the service of arasaka (either way you keep the body and also they have a kill switch on you just in case).

Killing him after watching the anime brought me joy. I had avenged David and Becca.

Maybe that's what got him so psyched about David Martinez. He saw a new rival similar to Morgan Black hand in him.

Smasher gave great vibes of a big boss you will have to eventually fight just as soon as you meet him. Shame the game, even on highest difficulty is so easy. I just wrecked through him, knocked him out and spared his life. He was really easy.

Though most full-body conversions are pretty tanky, there are some that are specifically built for stealth and to be exceptionally stylish. Gemini-style fullborgs look and feel human in the same way a terminator is. You wouldn't know unless you gave them an autopsy or saw them in action.

i thought he started with 2 cyberlega, 2 cyberarms and body/face plating and was upgraded after the rules for full borg came out.

The smasher you defeat could easily be a relic copy in a different (lesser) body.

Ok so low key I love Adam Smasher as a villain. I know he really plays on the “I’m evil just because I can be” trope but fuck he does it so damn good

SoulKiller, a program that makes a copy of your mind (and burns out your brain in the process till at least version 5) you can then install copies of that on to blank clones or use it as a template for an AI, Relic is based on Soulkiller Technology, I'm sure Arasaka has a copy of Adam on a drive somewhere so when he dies he can just be uploaded to a clone brain in a bio-pod and installed in to a new body.

I really like the idea of body modification (chrome) but 1. I don't know if I could actually let go of my organic body(parts) and 2. I hate the fact that through the tech I could become a vessel of the world order, politics, companies.. cuz they would definitely have and use the opportunity to observe everyone with chrome..

It would be dope if you chose to let him live and on the sequel you can hire him yourself or he's in your debt and use him for backup.

It would have been cool if you could go full Borg in Cyberpunk 2077, even have an ending which had it as a way to survive the chip but sort at what cost. I do wish we got in Cyberpunk 2077 a power suit too that was like an alternative like the maelstrom dude has in the first mission with them, he epic thematically and get to really try be David and have exclusive lines with Adam Smasher remembering someone similar. It just be thematically cool if you could mirror Adam Smasher and ending which has you either replace him or parallel him like Blackhand but as a Borg but didn’t lose your humanity.

Morgan Blackhand is a legend very respected and many street punks wants to be like him. Adam Smasher is a cyborg and everybody are scared and if you see him you Have only 2 choices you alive because you on his „side“ or you just dead flesh

The RPG also takes place in a different time period. I wish I had all my original rule books again; I miss those stories.
