same bro haha when we used to work that we used to get soo angry when things didn't go well and we were like crazy beasts in those moments but today when we doesn't work that anymore we miss it I think that in some way created me as person I am today full of understanding and full of patience

That's exactly what's wrong with the printing industry. A company pay's Heidelberg Millions for a Machine. Then they expect one man to run and maintain this beast all by himself. Plus work 12-hour shifts 5 days. That's a slave mentality. And you are crazy if you think you are right!

@@ccnixon I have seen worse than this which I was hired to automate, so that one operator can handle the whole plant. I don't know where you got the working hours. No disrespect. Working hours must comply with the labor laws where I live. I know there are harsh machines to work with but this one is not.

Give me two helpers and at the end of 5 days I could triple his production.....as long as there are no ad agencies or artist press proofs.....one man operation is crazy for the expensive press.

Hey Johnny,I agree, these machines are designed for production and one man cannot be in three places at same time so risks are high and production low due to reprints or worse,our brother falls asleep in toilet after eating too many Mr.Kipling bakewell tarts and all kinds of almighty shit hits the fan, three hours later when the early shift comes in.

Yea I noticed that too on startup no one flagging or pulling start up color. I always hated shops that ran SuperMan one man operator machines. No maintenance ever done to the equipment, water tanks filthy, coater units crusty, recycling bins over flowing, color control and quality checking is running on the edge with the cheap recycled paper those companies would buy. Ha, don’t miss that at all that’s a nightmare waiting to happen! Hell management might be filming the work stations!

@@rons9197 The poor guy, he probably is working as a taxi driver now due to him loosing the plot when printing machine kept stopping.He looked like the type of guy who would get angry and shout at the press 'you german bastard'.Maybe that happened and the company is closed now but at least he is in a stress free job in a taxi.

@@rons9197 Yeah, I also don't understand how there can be no one at at the delivery to throw a tag in after 5-10 sheets, and pull a sheet right after that to check for scumming, and also to put into the scanner.

I too like to keep press clean, all the time I wipe powder from cat walk and eventually my guvner take me in office and done sack me for not printing much.

I know that feeling too and he is all alone, thinking about the long night ahead and fighting fatigue, nobody to talk to and then he starts hearing things, imagines people are in the factory and he gets nervous, also on his mind is his wife, he had a bad argument before he start his 6-6 nightshift.He left her in the pub with all his friends and he worries if she will be home when he gets back to his house, especially as it's a saturday night.He worries about all sorts of things.

@@Bassmanfallon yup that's why I left that job I worked it for 4 years my longest shift ever was when I came to work around 13:30 and I went home the other day in the morning at 8 am boss called me the other day and I didn't pick up the call he told me rest for the weekend and I came to work at monday I worked with shitty chinese laminating machine I was all allone in the company and I remember electricity hits me 2 times on that machine there are bad experiences but that job have something in it I dnt say I would return but I have some very good memories :)

@@gon3946 Apart from being on his own,as other posters have said, it's slave labour one man on 8 colour press, unless his bro was off sick and nobody else wanted to do the nightshift with him.When things are going ok,that's fine but when things get on top of you, like when you run out of ink and your colour goes BIFF,then you have to explain to your guvner on monday morning in office why 23,000 sheets ended up in bucket, that's tough and the blame lies with you for being a hero and being hungry for overtime.

@@Bassmanfallon I fully agree with you on everything you said and in the end you get it, that there is simply no point in explaining things why something happened cause your director will allways be right allways, my director took 10 percent of the sallary to the guy cause he was dressed like the guy in the video ( he dnt have shirt in his pants) my director when I was leaving my company took me 2 sallaryes with excuse I didn't do good job after I worked 5 days in row 12 hour shifts when I didn't wanted to sign contract where I'm giving him my last 2 sallaryes he threatend me with court and lawyer in the end I did sign it up that job is crazy so much stress so much frustration, 5 days in row 12 hour shifts on solvent color machine name of the machine was windmooler and holschner soloflex you're dead after that headache is huge and you can't do anything else except sleep when you come home and yes it is 8 color press his speed is 200m/min I'm not big expert in offset I worked more on flexo press

@@gon3946 Like you,I'm glad I'm out the printing industry.We are moving away from Victorian times but the conditions are moving back to them in UK.As this video shows, one man running a big press, nobody else in factory??? If he tripped and hurt himself, he wouldn't be able to phone for help as his phone is always on a pallet recording himself.

That press might be UV. Thats what I run with a helper at 14000/hour!

The right inks and a UV dryer will help.

The press undoubtedly has IR dryer and a small amount of spray. There is evidence of spray around the legs of the delivery pile. There is also spray all over the towers where the ink agitators are. Also you'd have to have some sort of dryer as it is perfecting 4 colours, its not UV as there would be evidence of light escaping between the towers as any UV system would have to be inter-decked.
