US Army vet here. My senior drill Sgt in 1993 was 155cm. Small guy. He looked like a small version of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The guy was a Ranger with a mustard stain on his wings. He jumped in Grenada. The guy was a badass. If he had a height requirement he would have never served….

As per Indian army recruitment: "The minimum acceptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight and for women candidate is 152 cm and 42 kg. In case of candidates belonging to the North East and hilly areas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis, the height is relaxed by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduced height. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height is reduced by 2cms".

Army is the group of new generation soldiers but most of the freedom fighters are less than 170 cm ...So,indian army should give a chance to people more than 160 cm height ...as it depends of courage ,strength,firm faith in country,loyal to ones country😢??

I love measuring height because it leads to form a best team or standard soldier but I would like to say that same height was not for all. height follows according to the region. I have studied the book of Indian army and found every rules and regulations. height is required differently to different regions. for instance, for some countries 170cm or 175cm, and for North East India it was 157 cm and others were required 165 cm . One day I will try to join but only 168 cm is my height and I m from north east.thanks

Serving in Army is not the only way to serve your nation, It may be your personal choice to be in Indian Army, but belive me You can make your nation stronger in many other ways like APJ Kalam did.
