My late husband was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer in Aug of 2019, and just the radiation treatments started making his hair fall out. He cried a little and then his sister shaved him bald. I watched him go thru what Walt goes through with radiation and chemo. And pills for this and that and the other. It will be 3 years this May since he passed away. We were married a little over 29 years

@@SuzySteejo he was a hard worker. And anytime he got a night off from work I'd tell him to go hang with his buddies, they liked Mary Jane very much. When he was diagnosed, I knew what his sister would say, but I had a week at home alone at night and I knew if it was me, I wouldn't go thru treatment, I told him it was completely up to him, because if me, I'm not doing it. He was told that Nov he needed to start treatments by first of Dec and he did. But not only did he have 7 tumors on his brain, it was traveling fast thru his body. He didn't even make it 2 years.

Paying medical bills up front isn't an option for most people in a country where it costs thousands. A copay may be due at time of service, but everything else will be billed to you. If it goes unpaid for a long time, they send you to collections so your medical needs can not only bankrupt you, but also fuck your credit score so nobody else will work with you financially for years 🙃

@angelalurtz3638
@angelalurtz3638 3 ай бұрын
@@bendover-bz4bc people don't have to be relentlessly harassing you for it to disrupt your future life. Say you don't yet own a house when you get diagnosed with cancer or some other complex illness. You survive and are cured, BUT (like the majority of people in the USA) you are only a couple paychecks away from being flat broke. Your company offers 5 days per year of paid sick time, and a few more weeks of FMLA in which you're offered less than 100% of your normal paycheck. You scrape by with your rent and bills (especially if you have kids), but by the time you return to work you have zero savings, living paycheck to paycheck, and your landlord informs you they won't be renewing your lease this year. Where do you come up with the money for a deposit in a new rental? You can't take out a loan because your credit was tanked. Your spouse has a decent job, and you decide to try and purchase a house, but because you're married and both your credit scores are considered, you either aren't approved for a mortgage or you are but only at a high interest rate AND with a large down payment that you don't have on hand (thanks again to the medical bills eating through your savings). Your car dies, and you need to replace it so you can continue going to work. Again, your loan is declined, or is only approved at a super high interest rate. Even if you can swing it, having those high payments prevents you from building any savings and money is TIGHT (and where will you be if another disaster strikes then??) These are the consequences of getting SICK, not of being irresponsible or making poor decisions. And it's all on top of the fact that money is taken from your paycheck every month, AND you've paid a copay at every appointment/for every prescription, AND the insurance company was only willing to cover a certain limited amount OR only certain treatments that the doctors flat out told you would have lower chances of success because the insurance company isn't willing to cover new/experimental treatments in spite of that being your doctor's recommendation for best outcomes. THAT SYSTEM is what's bullshit here. Why are you so determined to lick the boots of corporations that don't care whether you live or die, so long as their bottom line stays 👍🏻 for the stock holders? 🙄

I agree with Suzy. Theyre making the way Walt deals with his cancer all about them and what Walt can do to make them feel better rather than encouraging Walt into a private therapy or something.
@TheRealAhoy
@TheRealAhoy 3 ай бұрын
That's because Walt kept it to himself for weeks. He's obviously on a different level of thinking in regards to it and he's had an advantage for a few weeks in knowing where he wants things to go. They're still letting him control where he wants things to go, but they would like to be clued in a bit, especially seeing as cancer isn't something he needs to deal with on his own, but he's taken it as a badge of honour that belongs to him. I think Walt pretty much decided that his cancer was all going to be about him, they don't actually mind him feeling like that but him having cancer isn't the big thing they think it is, to him it just plays second fiddle to his life as possibly the best meth cook of all time.

The weight of $35,000 in $20 bills, is 1.75 kgs, or 3.86lbs. The average weight of a major league baseball bat is just over 2 lbs. Someone swinging 4lbs at your head would indeed hurt, even if there's a little more give in a bag of money than a bat. There is almost no give in a bag of $250,000, but then it's hard to swing at someone's head.

4:29 there was another writers' strike in the spring of 2008 that shortened the first season. 21:50 in the US they send it to a collection agency and if they pursue it further, a judgement against you could be issued, and if they win it they can do a wage garnishment from your paycheck until the debt is paid off. 32:13 I thought that KEN WINS was the Chadley of season 1.

The thing I love about that end scene is not just how bad ass it is… but Walt’s hype at the end. I think so many men make themselves feel like life must be small as they get older. Their lives are just work to provide, pills and vitamins, aches and pains, and feelings of what they used to be. To see an older sickly man have a “hell yeah” moment makes me think of all the badass men in my life that put their ambitions aside to be providers. My dad at 62 jumps off of cliffs for fun. People always ask me if it bothers me. And I always say no. Because my dad deserves to have his hell yeah moments

Also its fair to point out that $35,000 in twenty dollar bills is roughly 4 pounds. Tuco probably had super random and smaller denominations too when he counted it out and put it in the bag, but even if he didn't, if you put a 4 pound weight at the bottom of a bag and swing it at somebody, It's gonna do DAMAGE. You think like "ehh, it's just paper..." but its a LOT of paper. Its like he dumped a couple phone books in a bag and swung it Jesse full force. That's gonna HURT. Lol.

Just a quick note about American healthcare, most services can be billed and paid over time and insurance covers a lot of it, if you have any. The big thing is a hospital cannot refuse life saving treatment, even if the patient can't afford it.. also, even if it only pay $1/mo they can't do much about your medical debt. It is more expensive than other countries but many doctors come here for the better pay so the car is better and no ridiculous wait times to be treated
@dukerollo1116
@dukerollo1116 3 ай бұрын
I don't know how true this is but ive heard in countries with universal health care you might have to wait a year or so to get a surgery you need while here you get it when you need it but you have to pay for it and its not always up front you get billed monthly and insurance pays for some of it if you have it

@@dukerollo1116 Swede here. Sweden as you may or may not know is pretty much the poster child of Universal Everything. They prioritize according to need so it''s very swift if you're young and it''s serious. If you''re old and therefore less prioritized or it''s less serious the waiting times can be completely absurd.If I had a nice middle class income and had something not life threatening Id much rather be in the US. If I were broke and it were very serious Id much rather be here. There are people whove paid insane taxes all their lives and have to live with excruciating pain for years that would be fixed by fairly minor surgery, but since "just" pain doesnt cut in line...

Note that this is taking place in 2004 (I think) and Walt is in kind of a bad Health Maintenance Organization that doesn’t cover the quality of care that Marie and Skylar think he should get. Since he’s going outside of his insurance coverage, he’s paying full price and not going through his insurance company at all. He gets a small discount (maybe 20%) for paying cash. If he were going through insurance, the money wouldn’t be that big of an issue, but he’d be limited on which doctors he could use.

@crairdin happens a lot even today, you have your preferred doctors.. every insurance has a name for them but it's essentially the same, in or outside the plan. The good thing is, you can make payments and less known fact to foreigners is we do have medicaid, which essentially is universal Healthcare if you're poor except you get the same priority treatment as everyone else.. it covers teeth, eye, and general health including surgeries. We also pay into a pool called Medicare that once you reach a certain age, you can use.. even in combination with your own health plan which greatly reduces costs as well.. So many foreigners think it's this money hungry system, and it is, but we have a number of programs to help the poor and old.. America is a capitalist country with a LOT of socialist programs (welfare, tanf(food stamps and such), WIC, medicaid, section 8 or HUD housing, energy assistance, and a ton of others including college grants (separate from academic or sports based scholarships) and things like that.

You mean later when Walt grows the goatee? I figured since he copied people he killed or being around him who died that he may have caused the death of he picks up their behavior so he grew the goatee after hmm how can I say this without giving anything away to those who have not seen it yet....umm I will just say thought he grew it to copy Jane's dad's goatee

That would absolutely hurt stacks of money like that are like little bricks. American money isn’t thin plastic like it is over there. You stack it.. it’s heavy. Enough stacks like swinging books around.

cactuses is a perfectly appropriate plural for cactus. If you're speaking latin, then cacti is probably better, but in English, 'es' or 's' are each correct.
