I went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. There was a bust of Latvian Prime Minister Ulmanis at Love Library. My father's family was Czech. Fascism was more widespread in Europe than most Americans think. I'm not a fan of Socialism in any form, but in a very limited fashion. I'm not fond of Trump. I don't like Biden. When people say NRA I think National Recovery Administration . . . Here's the fun part, I'm a bloody Hussite (Czech Brethren) by heritage and that scene with the Pope just made me shake my head. I jokingly call myself Kaiser Marek der Grosse of Budkaria-Laurasia in my capital of BUDKAPEST. I am very much an obnoxious pest, but who would want to rule a Fascist or Marxist state? Who would want to be an emperor? Not that I'm a monarchist in any way, but from everything I've studied . . . Franz Josef and Elisabet would have been a lot happier if they hadn't been monarchs. They were such miserable people, but they apparently loved each other deeply. I wonder sometimes. Romanticism just doesn't hack it. The OLD Vienna! "Marku, musíš jít do staré země. Spojené státy jsou tak necivilizované." I just laugh and laugh when I remember my grandmother saying that.

Yes, because its an parody, its hardly exaggerated but it has some true points.
@franciscofranco57393 жыл бұрын
@@yunnan47 no, it is VERY exaggerated, to the point that even a basic rudimentary understanding of this history would be enough to know how exaggerated it is. Lol Dollfuß was never attempting to emulate Nazism or Adolf Hitler, he was trying to emulate Mussolini who was considered revolutionary and held in a positive light before joining the Axis. And Mussolini viewed Dollfuß very positively.....well positively enough to almost go to war with Hitler over the death of Dollfuß.

You’re far too generous....The makers ought to be ashamed of themselves and not only for the faults they commit but also perhaps even more so because they end their film half way through the Austrian drama - oh yes all right it IS only about Dolfuss and ends with his murder...but in a way it doesn’t because his regime continued until its demise with the Anschluss in 1938 .... and relevant because Schussnig succeeded to Dolfuss to carry on the regime and hopefully with Mussolini’s support if not protection as shown previously in 1934 but without realising it Mussolini had been or was in the process of being overtaken by Schikelgruber and had got himself in a mess over using bombs and mustard gas in Abyssinia and missing the enemy to land on international Red Cross camps there and found himself friendless except for Schikelgruber on the one side and Schussnig on the other....That’s right and true to character he chose the bigger bully of the two ...( that’s not right, Schussnig was no bully but would find himself trying hard to stand up to Schikelgruber ‘ s summoning bullying tactics - like “Come up here to my place and be my guest to talk it over in friendly fashion!” Only to be left waiting for hours then to read some kind of ultimatum....leaving little time to catch the last ‘bus home... Schussnig tried to stand up to the other Austrian ...the one who gave up on his borderline mother country ( nice guy...) ...but finally weakened and gave up...Just as well, his People were no better than the example of the ice-cream bloke in Rome... and nice humanitarian Left Wingers like Karl Renner told his band of freedom-loving socialists to go national and vote for the now a new German bloke just to prove they could be more national than Schussnig and Dolfuss R.I.P. by being both national AND socialist.....getting the whole of the capital to give the once-upon-a-time fellow countryman but now no longer their vote that their country once called “Austria” should exist no more but should be absorbed into “ the grater Reich” and called Ostmark! Karl Renner - And Bruno Kreisky too - must have been a right creep and no better than the Roman ice-cream bloke - even Stalin had no time for him!
