Helen has written 7 books including ‘Reality Check - a simple guide to enlightenment,’ and ‘The Story of I. ’ She was always searching for something in my life and for many years she didn’t know what it was. She always felt different as a child and could see energy and auras around her and desperately tried to fit in and find peace but it never came. A sense of an empty void began to grow inside her in her twenties and eventually she realised she was suffering from depression.
She tried various forms of healing, reiki, meditations but they only gave her temporary relief. But then for one brief moment all mind chatter stopped and when it resumed she spent years searching for how to get back to that "place". She pursuing yoga, Kundalini teachings, Vipassana meditations and much more and experienced awakening in what seemed to be stages. During her awakening she experienced lengthy delays and many obstacles and issues and struggled to overcome blocks and got stuck many times. There were many delays and dark moments.
In this interview Helen talks us through her journey and explains how she now sees reality.

Thank you both! Helen I have listened to you on line but what struck me at the end of the interview was when you shared that the deepest and more intense samskaras came once you recognized the Silence that is always here. That has been my experience as well and has helped me relax into the continual allowing and feeling deep fear and sadness. A confirmation that I’m on the right track. What a journey! Thank you for your courage 🙏

Thank you. That interview has been so beneficial to me. I live in and understand nonduality and awareness yet I experience such pain and suffering from collective consciousness. I get confused if this is perhaps my own depression but I have such a good life but emotionally I feel this pain. Thank you so much Helen for saying that we have to embrace the emotions and feel them. It's like a weight has been lifted as my ego mind was thinking it was some kind of defect that needed to be analysed why I felt it and how do I fix it. I understand now that my next step is to just accept it and maybe consciousness wants to feel it through me. I have to learn to nit ask why and just allow it. Thank you Helen. 🙏

Can relate to this path so much. To get to the point where we recognise silence rather than blissful experiences that come & go. The silence always IS no matter bliss or terror. I had many openings many blissful experiences & I got addicted to recreating them rather than fully being here & now whatever shows up in experience. We like we don't like & yet it IS. It's coming to the recognition that all of this changing & unchanging is who we are. At the same time recognising who we essentially are consistently is the unchanging. Only here is stability with the changes. That is like an anchor somehow even if a formless anchor!!

Thank-you Helen so much for your wisdom. It's been so helpful for me. I was especially struck by your statement that "pretty much every person I've ever met has this insecurity, this unworthiness, this fear that seems part of our human condition". I don't believe I'll look at others the same way. I certainly know what this feels like, but I guess we do a good job of hiding it for most of the time. I used to think anger and judgment meant that we were anything but in need of love, but of course, it means the opposite. All that is not love is a call for love.

We loved the interview. Iain is so loving and lets Helen speak without interrupting with his own knowledge. Love that. The only thing I would’ve changed is asking Helen less about her past and more about how she lives now in peace and how it all led to simplifying her awakening teachings for everyone else. This was only discussed in the last five minutes of the interview. Her teaching is all about allowing everyone to realize the truth more easily than she did. And she came to these revelations without any outward teacher. Her VERY SIMPLE self-inquiry and contemplations are pure genius. The inner Guru is in everyone. Thanks Helen for your love and patience for everyone's process! You are Grace itself. ❤️

@@susanenglish3791 Peace, or the Self also doesn't exclude the mind. The ego excludes - it thrives on it; the Self includes all. Helen so often says this, and this very idea that the Self excludes what is is what hinders enlightenment.

Very interesting interview - thank you both. I have a potentially difficult question for Helen, if she sees this and feels like answering. In one branch of psychology there is a model of personality that sees it as being made up of a number of sub-personalities. It was first clearly described by a psychotherapist called Assagioli and it provides an explanation for one way that a person can deal with strong and difficult emotions by creating a sub-personality that does not include those difficult emotions. The way that it works is that if the sub-personality that has the strong emotions is in the conscious foreground and difficult, unmanageable emotions erupt, then the unemotional sub-personality comes forward and the emotional one recedes out of conscious awareness. Could that be what is happening in Helen? Could the silent space be a sub-personality within the overall self that is 'Helen' that can be used in emotionally difficult times? I'll get one of Helen's books and see if this question still makes sense, but I'm very interested to know whether Helen's experience is of a greater reality or whether a more psychological explanation applies.

Personalities are all seen from the space of awareness......multiple or otherwise !!!
@kevinmai2947
@kevinmai2947 3 жыл бұрын
That just seems like another description of what is happening. Through self-inquiry the "person" realizes that he/she is not the body/mind, but actually is the conscious. I would call this conscious the real personality, not a sub-personality. But a better way of saying it is that all personalities are seen from consciousness/awareness, therefore you aren't any of the personalities at all, those personalities appear within you. And you mistakenly (and through habit) identify yourself as that personality.
@peter.forster
@peter.forster 3 жыл бұрын
@@kevinmai2947 You would need to understand something of the dissociative process behind the way of dealing with difficult emotions using subpersonalities to be able to answer the question. It is certainly not the same process described using different words than Helen.
@kevinmai2947
@kevinmai2947 3 жыл бұрын
@@peter.forster I see. Then I would say it is different, because what you're describing is more of a defense mechanism due to the dissociation. Another ego structure is created and used to deal with difficult situations in a dissociative way. Sort of like spiritual bypassing.

With all due respect, this discussion is : - too long winded, - for 33 minutes you don’t get where it is heading, - lack of conviction and doubts creeps through the vocal tone. - a bit on the intellectual side rather than making it simple and executable.
