I love Helen Mirren, since I first saw her back in the late seventies, hot then still hot now. And as a guy, a straight American male, a veteran and been driving since I was 14 am 62 now, I have never cared for supercars. I was a delivery driver for years and was not afraid to put the pedal down but just never cared for rich cars or the sobs who drive them, which is odd because I have always loved Top gear and now the grand tour but for me my favorite car has been a Kia Soul. It drives like a car, it's fast, love the seats and I once moved a friend's entire apartment beds and all in it. But I could care less for masseratis or Lamborghinis. I've repelled out of helicopters and drove an M577 13 ton track vehicle but am just not impressed with speed. I drove an old Toyota Tercel from Georgia to Alabama on I 20 at 120 mph for the heck of it but it's just never thrilled me. I've worked on engines as a necessity but for me the ideal thing is to buy a new car, look once under the hood and trade it in 5 years later and never looked at that engine again. Its why I've always preferred either a Toyota or Kia. They never need fixing.

Actually it's not "posh"; it's just decent diction without glottal stops and "innits". I'm pretty certain that she can do the "plum in the mouth" Home Counties toffish, upper crust, sneering when the script demands it, and Estuary when needed too, but her UK accent is one that is intelligible across the country and the world, instead of just within a fifty mile radius of where she grew up. She has chosen to be understood wherever English is spoken, rather than badge herself as from somewhere in particular. I come from Yorkshire, and can do the dialect when appropriate, but since I no longer live there, mostly I like it if the person I am conversing with can understand me at first utterance. A sense of Diction in a world language is what is lacking in a lot of "native speakers" of English, Apart from that, there is not the slightest hint of gender ambiguity in this WOMAN!

Mirren is a great advert for the joys of public transport. I think it was her "shit" that was censored, which is curious because the UK are not as weird as the US re profanities, a shame. The best of the Thespians in every respect.
