As a graduate of the UCLA Art and Design department over 40 years ago, I have prospered because of my time there. I'm not rich with money, but I am an artist who is constantly and consistently curious. As a college prof for 23 years, I tried to instill that propensity to question ourselves and the world around us in my students. And, I'm proud to say there are those who studied with me who carry on that tradition, passing it on to the next generation. Helen's words, to stick close to the friends and colleagues you've met at UCLA, is important. You have shared this time with them. You have fed off their thoughts and ideas as they have fed off of yours. I add my congratulations.
