I am in tears. I just found out Helen Reddy past away. What a lovely song " I am Woman " is ! Music today is just not the same. It's not just that it was a more innocent time back then. But music meant something back then it was more tasteful, more beautiful, more thought provoking. There were more ballads. Todays music is so hedonistic, trivial, self indulgent and uninspired. - Rest in peace Ms Reddy.

Young girls today don’t realise how much Helen Reddy’s song I Am Woman really affected women in the 1970’s. Cause they are enjoying the rights today women in the 1960’s and 1970’s fought for them. While we haven’t stopped the Gender Pay Gap entirely. At least women know today. That when you enter a standard job, you will be paid the same as your male work colleagues. AND you are not expected to resign when you get married. My mother was expected to resign then. When she married Most were. You were actually sacked in most cases. You were seen as taking a job off a man if you remained working once married. Lots of women fought that disgusting discrimination. But a lot caved in at the pressure.

So sad to learn of Helen Reddy's passing (Wed. Sept. 9, 2020). She was definitely a trailblazer for future female singers. It was a Joy to see her on the Rosie O'Donnell show. One of the best talk shows of the time, always had great talent on. Wasn't a fan when they went to the newer format. Helen & Rosie Great Job! R.I.P. Helen Reddy, You will be miss.

Interesting how we don't fully appreciate a talent until they're gone. I made that mistake with Barry White (never saw him live) and now Helen Reddy. Delta Dawn remains one of my favorite songs that strangely never gets old. Also I like how she sang about unpopular women such as Angie Baby. I am not woman but hey some guys loved Helen Reddy too.

Helen was such an Integral part of that time and of that very soecial era, and I feel so blessed to have lived In it. So that being said.. and altho this little fun duet was cute, I wld have much rathered Helen singing Alone, espec rt now. Amazingly, I have only just become aware of the phenomenal woman that was Helen Reddy.....this is because the film about her life "I am Woman" has just premiered on Netflix. I came in from work a week ago, turned on Netflix, saw this film was on, and somewhat passively decided to make it my evening's entertainment. My life is now changed forever.....no exaggeration. Her song of the same name has such power and empowerment, and I can't think of any other song to match it. I saw the song performed on the film and since have watched countless videos of it sung by Helen Reddy herself. She sings it with a grit and realism that shows this was a song Helen lived out in her personality and actions, and in what she said. It is as true today as it was in the 1970's, and continues to change lives, as I know mine has been. Thank you Helen Reddy :)
