Almost a year has passed since we moved from Great Falls to Helena. Big move for us, but the most spectacular event was the 5,000 acre fire just a couple miles North of our home. It is out and 1.5" of rain the last two days should help the other fires too.
Vi and I had a front row seat for the whole fire. We were not evacuated but very close. We both took stills and videos of the planes dumping retardant, helicopters flying over our heads and getting misted from the canvas buckets.
A huge incident fire command camp set up south of us and is still there. We still hear helicopters flying overhead.
Thank goodness no structures lost that we know of or loss of life!
Sharing what we saw from our back deck.
