This is a job, not a hobbie,,Animals are shot for food or sold. Deer were introduced to New Zealand for hunting, they are not native to New Zealand. If you don't like hunting then do not watch this vid.

Te Kahika was the best part of the Raukumara to hunt in, plenty of cattle, deer and pork to live off. Pretty much an eraser block to ground hunt in, lots of big terraces higher up, fair amount of spring creeks to drink from, from memory one of our main cattle camps were up here with another further upriver for fly camping just below the Mungawaru Bog.. Though a low saddle down to the Waitahia and 5 hours later you'd be on pine tree country for pick-ups to Gizzie. This program is the first that I've seen parts of the old hunting blocks from the air, it brang back memories from long ago, thank you.

When you get out of the chopper after you've shot, are you recovering the deer or taking the tail?
@nzmeateater3 жыл бұрын
Gday Les, we recover the deer for sale or for the freezer, thats why we use ropes/ strops , ,,, to lift the deer out .

What are you constantly fiddling with on that shotty and what injured your finger?
@nzmeateater3 жыл бұрын
Pilot wanted gun set with cartridge out of breach when not in use ,and the gun jammed after shooting first deer, cut finger trying to un jam it. Pilot just playing it safe as this was our first time working together, some shooters in the past with diffrent pilots have blowen holes in bubble and floor cause they playing with trigger while leaving gun loaded with safety off,
