First of all, I passed. So the above statement is incorrect. 2nd, sure, I'll just adjust my knee board while trying to control the aircraft while there's a set of perfectly good hands sitting in the other seat. Apparently you don't know what safety first means. And THIRD, This is NOT my flight school. This is where is did my CHECK RIDE. Completely unfamiliar with the area. Before the checkride, he said HE WILL HANDLE THE RADIO NAV FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE CHECK RIDE. Thanks for your comment.

Good video Josh, thanks for sharing. He was a good examiner, the best ones look at the big picture, make you relaxed, and don't nitpick the small stuff. Great job passing your checkride. Good luck with your future flying.=)

Thanks for all of your video efforts to show people what it is like for a check ride. Also thanks for letting me hitch-hike onboard with you, the ride was fantastic! The autorotation scared the Hell out of me though, not your flying it, just I didn't think there was clearance above the buildings. That could be the camera's view though & I am sure in person it was all fine. Great job well done & congrats on passing.

Dude. That was the most lax checkride I've ever seen. And I'm not hating on you, good for you. Out here, on my checkride, the DPE did not do a SINGLE thing. As a matter of fact, he said that if he did, automatic fail. In other words, for proving single pilot resource management. If I'd have asked him to take control while I fixed my knee board....lol...noooope. I look at it this way, in the real world if you're flying somewhere alone and you don't have your info on your knee board where you can see it...what would you do? But I'm not being a dick buddy, congrats on getting your ticket. :)

I've mentioned in other comments, the airport was unfamiliar and he is required there to handle parts of it. they have very specific ways of doing things there that you would have to have ground school on and it wasn't a class, it was a maneuver test.

I feel ya man. VA for me as well. Yeah, expensive. And hard. But, if it was easy, everyone would do it. Eh? Did I hear Torrence on the radio? I'll be headed that way in February for the Robinson safety course. Every CFII is required to take it where I'm at.

the military is a great way to go. im a Marine now, going into the army to fly as a warrant officer. since you're getting your degree, you can go fly for any branch as an officer. otherwise, if you do some enlisted time, you can use your gi bill and go to awesome programs like Guidance Aviation that will get you up to CFII on the governments dime. if not the military, it will be very expensive.

I saw a designated examiner fault a student for immediately pulling pitch and not stopping at a hover doing a maximum performance take off. He said if you get in the habit of just yanking the collective up... and one day you do it from grass or mud (soft field) and a skid sticks in the mud you will have a dynamic rollover so fast you won't know what happened. But it looks like you did a great job! Every examiner is different. Mine flew Chinooks in Vietnam and is a super cool guy.

I'm going to school in January to finish my ratings. My advice, do a term in the military, get your GI BIll, and use it to pay for flight school. Unless you have a couple hundred grand to throw around.

It is always a big day. I was lucky enough to learn from day one in a turbine, but it was complex which added a lot more emergency procedures. My commercial check ride was very stressful, but what a feeling when you land and find out you passed. My oral was 4 hours long. Killer, but if I can do it... so can you. Just be sure you have a plan if you want to do this for a living. The amount of hours you need is financially unreachable for most unless you have a hookup. Educate yourself first!
