Thank you, splendid work. This was one of the best analyses ever on Paradise Lost. The people who view Milton's writing here as defining the "glamour of Evil", miss the point . As you point out, Hell or Heaven truly exist in your Mind as manifestations of your essential Character.

The only problem I see here is that it doesn't matter how in piece and in heaven I am with myself if there are evil forces and evil system in place that are subjugating my brothers I shall fight them. That fight is what will make you good in the eyes of the creator. When you fight that battle you are part of GOD. When you simply enjoy being chill and unpassionate like Buddhists and focus only on your own actions but not in changing what is wrong in society you will not find happiness but vegetative existence

@@VelhaGuardaTricolor I don't find buddhists terribly unpassionate at. they just don't have the same approach as christianity does. but on most other points; I agree. one should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason. the struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. anyway, those are the first two tenets of the satanic temple. encourage benevolence and empathy, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense, oppose injustice, and undertake noble pursuits.

Milton lived in dangerous times; he had to be careful of his public statements; he could be killed for any deviating view. So he had to hide his 'opinion' inside his writings, deep inside for the future reader to excavate! Folks, please read Paradise Lost again and you will find that the great epic is about Paradise Rejected! [We shall elaborate on this at our next posting soon].
