I started working at Higginshaw gas works in 1978 when th 4 gas holders were still in situ, I think I've got my bearings after studying the image for a while. Thanks

In the 1950's I was a kid playing at at "Bobby Scotts", in between lessons at Derker Junior school. It was, basically, dangerous..... large lumps of rock from the old engine house that we could leap across. But that's all there was, and we loved it. Then there was the Holyrood mill fire, and the railway, crossing Derker Street to Platt's East Works, were my dad worked. I eventually managed a ride on a a coal train from Royton Junction to Higginshaw gas works. Thanks for bringing it back to mind.

Great Colin and good to see all those mills back in the day. Glad some of the terraces are still standing.

Which do you believe works better, the end in the finished film..or the alternate ending featured on the DVD's special features?
