Tenza was real one till his very last breath. My guy went down swinging like a true warrior. We didn’t have him around as long as I would have liked. But he made a major impact with the time he did have.

Last episode the groot guy, told you that the TAN is the elixir that everyone is trying to find and its made out of the "life" of the people that enters the island, but the people need to be alive to work. Thats why the tenzin said "I need you alive to make more tan, but i will kill you"

This episode really flipped the master sacrificing himself for the student narrative trope. Tenza even had some MC vibes so I legit shocked me that he was killed so soon even with all the carnage going on. AoT didn't even do that, lol. Rest In Paradise , Tenza 🙏🙏

In regards to wonky animation: from what I've read the production has been pretty strained since the start which is a shame because it really deserves a good adaptation and it's been alright, but you can definitely see the weird run cycles, off character models, lack of sound effects sometimes, etc..

Honestly more emotional than the 90 minute Oshi No Ko pilot lmao, and this is a side character too😂. Most people explained the Tan already, but Tenza was 17 and Nurugai was 12 I believe! That scene was him imagining his "future potential" so they both looked a bit aged up! I also thought the animation was a bit choppy here, like when Nurugai was pounding on Shion's shoulder.

You ladies finally get to officially met my favorite male character of the series, Shion. But it was under horrific circumstances, I seriously look forward to more reactions from y’all towards him. He’s a very cool character.

17:35 Tan is the elixir. As you saw in the last episode (I think), there was that pit with humans who were turned into plants. So I think that when it said that it meant that only humans could be fuel for that elixir - meaning they don't turn immortal like the Tensen but rather "immortal" like all of those in the pit with plants coming out of them. But basically that Tensen/Tenzin didn't bother taking them to the pit because it deemed them too annoying so it would just normally kill them off.

Usually, in these scenarios, it’s the master or teacher who dies trying to protect the student. It’s rare where we get a story in which the master intends on avenging their student and we see the reason actually happen in real time.

The Tan, giants and others are reminiscent of the Taoist and Buddhist immortal sages / enlightened beings, who are generally represented as all-powerful, vengeful deities. The island is said to be paradise, or Nirvana, which fits with the Buddhist and Taoist symbolism that has been noted by the characters in the series. As for the marriage stuff with Nurugai, if we're talking historical representation you gotta keep in mind two things: 1. Life expectancy was much shorter all that time ago (not uncommon to die in your 30s or 40s); and 2. In part because of this, in many cultures - including European ones that built or influenced modern western society - marriage was historically normal for people in their young-to-middle teens. It only feels wrong now because we have the luxury of social safety nets like healthcare and democracy so there is no longer any need nor obligation to rush people into long-term relationships while they're still young. Not saying I think it's acceptable in a modern context, but given this is set in the feudal era of Japanese history, it makes sense and adds to the character development because Nurugai now has an emotional reason to tie her to Shion and also to potentially exact revenge.
