Hellboy Star David Harbour Goes Comic Book Shopping, Talks Black Widow and Stranger Things

Comic Book Shopping is back, and it’s celebrating an especially big return because this new episode features none other than Hellboy himself, David Harbour. Comic Book Shopping hosted by Collider Heroes’ Coy Jandreau gives guests the opportunity to tap into their inner comic book fan by spending some time browsing the racks at local comic book shops in Los Angeles. Past guests have included Zachary Levi, Michael Rooker, Michael Giacchino, Frank Miller and so many more industry heavyweights.
Harbour recently made it over to Golden Apple Comics and browse the aisles with Coy to discuss how he first got into genre entertainment, how much fun it is to play Hellboy on the big screen, and to highlight some of their favorite comic books available right now. You could hear David's tone, there, too - way too neutral compared to how he sounded in the rest of this. "Hmm, you don't say, I am just hearing about this character now and for the first time." Very sneaky for sure.

Just saw Hellboy today and I'm surprised to say that it was pretty good. Glad I got to see this on the big screen. David Harbour did a fantastic job with the character.

If you haven't seen the first season of this with Jon Schnepp hosting, it's worth checking out. He had some cool guests and a fun vibe to it. Pretty sure Linkin Park spent like five hundred dollars on comics.

Really Great interview! I think, and I may be mistaken, but Johnny Romita designed the "Updated" Black Widow Costume in Amazing Spider-Man # 86 (1970) and that is considered her iconic costume.

For those kids out there who want to read comics but can't afford them,. your local library has them and you can put titles on hold. Also, visit second hand bookstores and thrift shops. You can pick up Trade Paper Backs (compilations) which have 6 to 12 books in them for $2-$8 each.

David was a great guest, and I think he was actually fairly knowledgable for being new to comics! The only "complaint" I have though is some of Coy's recommendations. I think for first time readers you should try to stick to Number 1's and origins. The Killing Joke was a great recommendation for example, but starting a non-comic reader in the middle of a series especially when they are as busy as some of these people are, I feel like is counter-intuitive. I still love the show though and think it's one of the best on KZfaq, Schnepp would be proud.
