I could see arrowhead adding a shovel, because for some reason shovels are an inside joke for the studio. They even have a shovel shrine in the tutorial past the rocket.

Well, HD1 did have bayonets you could fix to your weapons, as well as a Saber that was exclusive to a certain gamemode. With attachments likely coming back to HD2, the Saber also has a chance at coming back.

With the new warbond armour providing a melee damage up, some focus on melee boosting would be great. A sprinkling of primary and secondary options as a risk vs reward element would be a fun and silly way to shake things up when spreading democracy. Heck they could even add an extra use to the gravestone minor point of importance, allowing you to ditch your secondary in place of the shovel.

5:43 - In a related note, I'm actually really impressed with the in-universe propaganda writing for Helldivers 2. It might unironically be one of the best tools for teaching people about propaganda because while it's all very over the top and easy to spot from an outside perspective, _all of it is written using real-world propaganda techniques._ A lot of video game propaganda is made to be shit because it's propaganda from the side of the enemy. It's not meant to be realistic, and half the time it's meant to be so pathetic that it's actually a joke in-universe. Helldivers 2, the propaganda is a joke, but it's a 4th wall joke. It's dead serious in-universe, and the joke itself is delivered using real propaganda techniques. So the game is actually teaching people _about_ these propaganda techniques simply by ranting about Managed Democracy.

As long as you can only have one emote equipped at a time, the hug will never leave that slot. Great for spreading the love *and* T-posing to assert dominance.

For the unaware, "A Modest Proposal" was a satirical essay written by Jonathan Swift in 1729 that suggested poor people in Ireland could sell their children, as food, to the elite. The important part is that Swift treats the whole "selling kids to be eaten" thing _as if it were an actual solution._ He goes to great lengths to justify said solution, while also stating all the problems that led to Ireland's poor being poor to begin with - problems that aren't being addressed. By doing all of this, he indirectly chews out those that were hostile towards the poor at the time (mostly the elite). In my eyes, it's a work of art.

on the note of support weapons cutting through all other noise, it makes sense as general game design too. It's a noise that tells the player that "Yep, I fired my gun, and used a round, gonna need to reload", as well as making it more satisfying to use.

I greatly enjoy it when you post videos of you and your compatriots goofing off in other games, be it Payday, Hitman or whatever else! It's really funny to see the sheer dissonance of the game's tone and your goofy antics, but when said goofy antics are applied to Helldivers 2 it's a whooole different beast entirely! You will find it ammusing to know if you jump pack from a high place to a really low one, its possible to get so much downward speed before the landing thrusters start that you still ragdoll on landing and take fall damage you also can start a clinbing animation at the peak of you jump to climb things with no ground below you, which lets you get up on high objects that your jump is just a lil too short to reach bunch of small tech with the jump pack to learn! sadly no shovel yet though (a mid-jump melee swing might be the most to come though)
