They've been banning both people who have been nagging for LGBT stuff AND the anti-LGBT people. The devs have stated they don't want to politicize the game - good; tired of people attaching their real world agendas to fantasy worlds.

I love that Arrowhead are curating the looks to keep people looking moderately gritty and at least semi-realistic. It’s not Fortnite or Warzone, you’re dropping into a battle for the survival of humanity as a member of special forces, it would be immersion breaking doing that next to someone in hot pink with a rainbow stripped cape and a gun that fires unicorn horns.

Make one black cape, with a slider so it can have 99.9 shades of black. As the color becomes brighter, you proportionally become the decoy as the enemies can spot you from farther away.

The entire point of Helldivers as a character type is that they are part of a collective. Fighting for Superearth is an allegory for being part of something bigger than individuality. They specifically joke about how every Helldiver is the same and are replaceable.

Helldiver devs also banned ANYONE trying to bring politics to the forums and the game, not just LGBTQ+.

The funniest thing is, the in-game fictional government clearly treat its population as either soldiers, future-soldiers or soldier breeding factories (can be seen through the in-game dispatches messages, on-ship ads, or even by talking with on-ship NPC) with a very retrograde way of thinking. In that fictional context, I don't see how the LGBTQ+ would fit, on the contrary, that's probably the worst game to ask them to have such representation without breaking the lore.

The Helldivers themselves don't even have time to consider anything like who they would sleep with or what their "orientation" is. They're too busy shooting down from orbit and dying within the next two minutes, five tops. The bugs and automatons would kill them the same either way. All that I hear when people want representation like this is "I am unable to put myself in this character's shoes because it's not *literally me."*

They put anything like that in the game and "Team killing" will be on another level.

It's insane how human the devs truly are. They are genuine people with morals and care and passion for their creation and community. Every single minor detail in the gameplay and system is nearly flawless, and where it is flawed, the devs have consistently rolled out patches and fixes within days of report. Cannot be more excited to see Helldivers 2 take Game Of The Year.

Lineage series allows that. You can make your own clan emblem and upload it. I went online and my previous clan changed it to an emblem with the words “AV” on it. It was literally the chinese term for PORN. To say I was extremely insulted is an understatement. I left them and joined another clan. I created a series of colorful butterflies and the clan leader chose bright red against white. He chose the color because it really stood out and he was predominantly there to make things and sell them. The butterfly was because most of the members were girls and we wanted something pretty and not demeaning. So yeah, having the option is great but gotta be careful.

When I got a chance, I asked him if his favorite shotgun was the Stalker II or the Charger. He started gushing about how much he loves the Stalker. He's never played the game. 😐

The game has friendly fire. Imagine someone on the squad has a flag of any sort as a cape. Friendly fire happens. It was on purpose because I have this identifier. Even if it is a mistake. On the other end person has a flag cape and other players go huntting for them to grief them. We see it with the Creekers. Unless you know who you are playing with as friends you know. The idea that you don't know and work together for a goal is amazing. All for super earth.

Helldivers is so over the top that it’s kind of refreshing because it doesn’t force you to think about any of those things. I’m glad that all of those people are getting banned regardless of what they are asking for.

There is an old saying, "There is a time, and a place for everything. This is neither the time, nor the place for that." Simply because Helldivers satires fascism and authoritarianism does NOT mean that it is the time and the place for discourse of real life political issues. Not unless the devs want it to be or are ok with it being so. Clearly, the devs are not ok. That is their right as the devs.

You’re not wrong, by mentioning the extremes of each side and what they actually represent, it begins to make sense in terms of a spectrum for those too dense to not think in “all or nothing” styles of thinking. Thinking in extremes is stupid, and banning people for stating views or asking for in game stuff makes sense, though, I would give a warning first or make it a part of the rules so people know to keep their weird biases to themselves and just fight the automaton and bugs.
