In this video, I went into a solo helldive mission using the sickle and railgun to test how effective the railgun is against the Automatons after being buffed.
Helldivers 2
My Loadout:
Primary: Sickle
Secondary: Grenade Pistol
Grenade: Stuns
Armor: FS-38 Eradicator
Stratagem 1: Airstrike
Stratagem 2: Rocket Pods
Stratagem 3: Railgun
Stratagem 4:

Its always a one shot to devas and hulks to the face even on safe

True, but devastators can be one shot in the body if you charge it up enough in unsafe mode.

Is there a reason to take railgun over AMR? Since amr can take down gunships and can still 2 hit hulks in the face without needing to charge

As I’ve said plenty of times, both the Railgun and AMR are amazing weapons, and bringing either of them will be good. I believe that the railgun is a bit easier to handle, and it can more consistently kill enemies like shield devastators.

From everything I have seen the Rail gun is back to where it was intended originally. excellent at Mediums and small heavies but not really supposed to be anti Tank

5:25 someone tested it and there is a heat sink degradation mechanic, as you cycle more rounds it will heat up faster until you replace the ice.

i never used to og railgun but i love it rn just on bug missions i feel like i have nothing to take care of bile titans with only a railgun (if i already used my stratagems)

With the Striders if you hit the bottom plate it should one shot Striders even in Safe mode

17:04 ngl hearing the berserker devastator laughing like a psychopath is kinda creepy 😂 Guess im gonna have to give the railgun another shot. Hows it do against bugs? I really havent played against bugs much since i got to higher difficulties

Do you feel like the railgun is working better than the Autocannon?

I think the railgun might have a slight edge over the autocannon right now especially with the striders now being able to tank more shots from the autocannon, and the autocannon can feel a bit more difficult to use due to its recoil and reload time. However, it really just comes down to which one you prefer using because I think they are both very strong weapons right now.

@Mute_R6 true. The autocannon was the first good support weapon I unlocked and used regularly. After using it a lot you forget how difficult the learning curve is for it

The mission modifier "AA Defenses" takes away one of your stratagems

The game was too easy on you. Within 5 minutes I get multiple strider drops, hulks , devas.

5:42 yikes railgun is just too slow. sniper the leg and it was gone 2 second ago. poor railgun. also more patrols doesn't make it harder, just forces you to play more passive, for all difficulties its like this. don't use your weapons just run 🥱 can definitely see why people don't like it now. honesty helldive diff seems more tame for some reason. maybe the spawn count keeps getting capped, but that's just a theory.
