Just wanted to let you know that you partially inspired me with modeling. You took it up bc of PTSD and I took it up to keep myself sober. Next month will be 5 years. So thank you.

Nice building. Your first video encouraged me to pick up the Heller kit as it was cheap here and a nice size. Love the wood effect but I will have to add the forecastle even though no one actually knows what the ship looked like barring written descriptions of dubious accuracy! But as you say, each to his own model. Thankyou for the drybrush refresher as i am also guilty of the, not so dry brush problem! Nice colour choices as i am quite the diehard Humbrol enamel fan, the aroma of modelmaking!

Other channels may be more prolific, but none are as stylish as your videos. Also love the thought that goes into painting on all the videos. I wouldn’t worry about your English, it is good and has a nice tone.

The light/scale colour effect is more about diffusion of the light bouncing off the object. Over distance the reflected light is diffused by air particles, so it appears lighter, having lost vibrance due to all the atoms in the way between the observer and the object. For things like large scale model cars it is not so evident, as the vehicles are seen close up in real life. The colour does not have much distance to diffuse. Ship models are usually much smaller scales and in real life ships are seen at greater distances with not only air, but sea spray - water particles, diffusing the light even more to the observer. So ships in scale look more realistic with lighter shades and less colour saturation than the real life colours painted on them.

As a "fully" plastic modeller, i was sure that real wood is the only way to build salling ships. You made me reconsider... but is not easy to reproduce such skills. Congrats!

I still think that wood ships are the best way to "simulate" real ships... But you can have a lot of fun with these plastic gems

Great wood effects Alex. I am yet to build a model ship made from mahogany hard wood. So it is good to see how you achieved that wood look, which is so different from oak ships I build.

Brilliant! Just brilliant! I am into WW2 planes and tanks, but am going to tackle a sailing ship (plastic). I wondered how weathering can be done as a wood effect. Thanks so much for your advice. Also, your English is terrific. Much better than my Portuguese 100%. If I can suggest only one word: bitumen (the filler between the planks). It’s pronounced: bitch-chu-men (said quickly). Thanks once again. I’ve subscribed because I found your channel by accident. 😊

LOL!!! You are listening to Charlie Brown music.... But hey, GREAT work on the build. I am currently building 2 vintage Lindberg models right now- The motorized USS Coral Sea and the Santa Maria. Both very old kits from the 60's. In fact, I was musing that I am building a model kit that is LITERALLY older than I am (I am 60), and one that is almost as old. I don't have an airbrush and I have never used one, I prefer rattle cans and acrylic applied with a brush. I am studying how people "weather" though.... Again, great work!
