Okay, so here's a little message about this film. To be honest, I hated the theme that was assigned to me which is "Celebrating Diversity & Tolerance". I didn't like it because its hard to think of a thought-invoking story that relates to it. It took me time before I realized that I already knew a story that relates to the theme - it was my story.
My peers know me as someone who is jolly, makes a lot of jokes, and easy to get with but I wasn't always like that. A few years ago, I was a very shy teenager. I have some friends but I still felt lonely most of the time. I was afraid to recite at class, initiate conversations, and meet new friends since I feared their judgement and influence. Fast forward a few more years and I met a girl who changed my behavior and perspective over time. Long story short, I became who I am today. I admit that I'm still shy & afraid but I'm getting there. Of course there are other people who contributed to my growth and I appreciate them too. Truly, there are people who will come into one's life and change them even a little bit.
The story of Charles is also my story. There are tons of people who are experiencing the same dilemma as him. With this film, I hope that it would be an eye-opener to those who are afraid to get out of their shells and those who are in the vicinity of people like Charles. A simple greeting can start adventures & create history.
Okay, so back to the theme. How can we celebrate tolerance and diversity? Easy - by simply passing it on. It isn't that hard right? So, do your part.
