This is why I chose to learn how to play viola instead of violin. It's basically a travel-sized cello with the ability of doing almost all the stuff a violin can.

Even though I'm a concert pianist, I've always favored your guys' instruments. The cello and Viola are incredible instruments. The cello especially, and my favorite piece is the Elgar Cello concerto. Bravo, my friends!

Sarutta Assawamahakun Evah Pirazzi C and G, Kaplan D, and Larsen A. It's very specific to my instrument...I wouldn't recommend so many different strings unless you know what you want haha

I love this video! You inspired me to start playing VIOLA at the age of 45! Last year I had my first viola- concert in the teacher-parent-school-band (it was a great experience....I hit every second note, I swear.....).

I was thinking about what instrument is considered the most beautiful sounding to most people and was surprised that the cello didn't come up on a lot of the lists of top ones. To me, it is the most beautiful. When I hear a cello, my entire body instantly has a chill/goosebumps reaction and sometimes it's so strong that my eyes tear up. I don't have this reaction to the violin or viola. I don't know much about instruments or the "science" of music, I wonder if there are books written about this type of thing?

ThatViolaKid Umm.. you're welcome? Why a sad face? I'm not saying the viola isn't a beautiful instrument, just that I don't have the same visceral reaction to as I do to the cello.

I think we will react to some instrument at some point. I do agreed that the cello is beautiful, so is the viola. while the violin produce high sweet notes, the cello and viola creates deep notes that lingers in my heart :)

Nathan played the melody so well, he actually played the imperfections made by Adele's voice, like the odd jazz like feel in the verses, and the trills in the chorus.

Half the joy in watching Nathan's videos is seeing his facial expressions. Close up shots of his finger work are nice but a medium shot includes both features. Plz try this out.

I played Viola when I was younger, then ended up switching to Saxophone when I got to middle school. Hated it. Wind instruments just don't have the same level of resonance, beauty, and class in my eyes. I only played it for one year, and practically gave it up halfway through the year. Kinda sad actually. Just bought a viola though so I can start learning again!
