The "Saw" theme is the only horror theme that doesn't sound scary at all, but it still makes people tremble with fear. Once those notes started creeping in, you knew it was over for someone. GAME ☠ OVER.

I agree. It's not scary. It's the subtle tremor that crawls up through your feet, winding around your ankles and knees, tracing each rib before coming to a dizzying grip around your heart. It's the cold fear of pain, the thought of excruciating pain in order to continue living. It's the way the traps are created and set by Human Beings. It's the tiny, tiny, imperceptible hints dropped, everything coming together a fraction of a second too late. It's the realization of "oh" and the screams from those trapped in moldy bathrooms. It's the primal fear of 'I want to live.' 'Hello Zepp' isn't scary. It's fucking anxiety inducing.

The reason I love the first movie the most is because it's more of a thriller than horror and the ending was the first twist to actually get me when I saw it. This song has been engraved in my head since then.

Definitely! When you realize that each line John said led up to that reveal at the end. I was expecting the reveal to be though that Hoffman or that driver were there the entire time in case something went wrong.

To this day, the ending of the first Saw movie is one of the most haunting endings in history, though somewhat satisfying considering the rather needless plot twist in the sequels.

The beauty of this theme is that it captures that moment when John told you everything you needed to know to deal with the trap you're placed in. He doesn't lie and told you how to beat it, what it would take from you. If anything, it's the riddle in his words that escapes you. and now, here, with seconds to go, you realize you've made the wrong choice. You went left when it was right, and now you can't go back. So as the music swells and the tension mounts, you hear the words that seal your fate forever... "Game Over."

Finally watched Saw for the first time. This makes such a fantastic horror theme because it's *triumphant*. But not for the players. It laughs in your face. You know it's game over, you KNOW he's won. All you can do is sit there as it all falls into place and the dots connect. It almost feels taunting.

I think what scares me most about Jigsaw/Kramer is that even when he KNOWS he's caught he KNOWS he's old, frail, and with not much time left. But he's always 15 steps ahead of you, no matter how close you are to him, no matter what threats he's under he KNOWS he's gonna win, he knows it's GAME OVER, because he's planned it even during his previous plan. He knows anticipation of human emotions better than most psychologists and he exploits it to teach violent lessons of repent and rebirth. To live your life proudly. And live it well.
