The Hells Angels rode into Lethbridge on Friday to set up a new chapter and club house in the city. Earlier today they also pitched a tent on Mayor Magrath Drive selling T-shirts and other clothing. Bridge City News spoke to a member off camera who said that Hells Angels are here to stay in the city. Members from a number of chapters including Calgary and Manitoba came for a visit. Many motorcyclists and other drivers who passed by honked their horns in a show of support. Some members expressed how happy they are being in city and some even said, "we are not a criminal group that many would have you believe." The Hells Angels began in California in 1948 and has grown to over 6-thousand members with 467 chapters in 59 countries around the world. Police and other international intelligence agencies consider the outlaw biker club an organized crime syndicate.
