From the Major's perpective he got what he wanted. He invaded England, fought a huge war and defeated his arch-enemy Alucard. Not only that but he ensured his soldiers died 'honorably' in combat against worthy foes thus granting their 'ten thousand wishes'. The music's appropriate for the last gasp of a warmonger striving for death..its more sad than 'heartwarming' imo
One thing i like about hellsing is that EVERY SINGLE IMPORTANT CHARACTER had an Awesome Moment

During the series it was noted by other characters several times that the Major had a really bad aim, even though he was in the SS. That's what he was referring to.
R.I.P The Major he didn't give us world war 3 but he gave us the best battle of the stereotypes ever

@@sheepisfortheweak6164 Well it wasn't that much of a world war as only 4 sides was involved. The church, the Nazis, British military force and the vampires

One of the best scene in anime history imo: "I am not the same as you, all the wars of this world come down to that one thing" All our fights are just because we don't accept the differences!! Most insane character but most sane at the same time.

I have said in comments to other clips from this that the Major was the most self-aware villain in cinematic history. He's always, always been a war-lover, convinced since well before Alucard bit him that being human meant embracing all human qualities, the monstrous ones just as much as the "nobler traits". To the Major, you have to accept the human condition, especially the warts, or you're only half alive at best. Arclight's right... as far as the Major was concerned, he won, hands down! Let me count the ways! 1) His men got to go out as the dark godlike warriors the Teutonic mindset of the Nazi regime had always promoted. 2) He defeated Alucard, completely. Yeah, the dude came back, but with only one soul and he's still blessed with suck (heh) in that he's Everywhere And Nowhere which means he cannot take in any more souls as if he does he'll self-destruct all over again. Most of all, he lived and died without drinking blood, refusing to be so much as a midian, let alone a No Life King. Oh, and as he crowed whilst dying, he *FINALLY* hit something! "It was a great war..." - The Major's last words

Anderson, who died, was probably the only main sociopath to look at things and realize that perhaps in this clash of the Titans moment where most of London was reduced to ruins and its people butchered, that perhaps... things had been taken a wee bit to far. The Marjor, to his credit, wanted to kill the worlds most powerful vampire because he thought that Alucards very existence was an affront to everything human. And, he was willing to give the warmongering vampire n@zies there last hurrah in order to achieve his goal. It was a sort of, honorable death, for the last bastion of those who believed in the absolute superiority of the master race over that of... and this last part is funny... Alucard the Master Vampire. They even sacrificed their humanity just to live long enough for this moment. I would feel sorry for them, but they are a bunch of Nazi bastards so screw it! In a bizarre sort of way, the two men were more human than the anti-hero Alucard who pretty much just showed up and massacred everyone in London for his own shits and giggles.

True, that was the whole idea of the character, it's very existance was defined by despair and greed. It is why Hellsing was the first human to defeat him, he atacked the weak man hiding behind the monster.

This is also why the very last scene is of Alucard drinking Inertias blood. It is a direct Fuck You to the Major

I've said this before (on another video), but somehow I feel like his death was far more "heartwarming" than it was in the manga. I think it was some combination of the background music and the event itself. It's not bad, just an interesting observation. Anyone agree or disagree, respond to this comment?

More of a cyborg. There's supposed to be a flashback in this episode where the Major was almost killed on the battlefield, but he was saved by the doctor. The blood of the soldiers began to creep towards the Major, but he shouted "Begone!" at it, ant the blood recoiled, as if offering him the chance to become a vampire.

On the other hand, Integra explained to the (dead) Major the reason he never achieved anything. She claimed this wasn't even a war,it was just 1000 superhuman monsters massacring the defenseless citizens of London.Also the Major said that he always wanted to see Alucard dead because he claimed that Alucard was a humanlike monster while the Major was a monsterlike human, yet [SPOILERS] he didn't succeed in it.
@Lotrick2 жыл бұрын
Wrong. He achieved what he wanted (the war) and he also killed (at least it seemed that way at the time) Alucard.
