Never understood and tried the home vpn thingy, despite being a CCNA certified guy. The only VPN that I knew is the one that is configured in routers. Finally, a demystification.

Lately, ever since we are in this nightmare I have had a few calls all same VPN works on mobile hotspot but not on home internet VPN works on a neighbors internet from same internet provider but not at cx home Meaning it will connect through others internet not just cx' own internet So far I have no clue why but its intriguing

I hear ya. We had some calls like that. I suspect the issue could be to home router being slow to properly route the gateway once PC is connected. Although it could be many other things like for example having limited number of ip address available on home network or some weird firewall settings on the router itself. Who knows... and we wouldn't be able to troubleshoot aside from going to their house. And as far as we know in any of those situations user could have mis-typed the password or login. It's really not easy to fix these issues sometimes.

If we use VPN it means that we are like directly to connected to the destination network no matter wherever destination is..it looks we are directly connected like in LAN. Simple VPN makes WAN like LAN.

Exactly. You pick the VPN server to connect to and now your "LAN" is there in virtual sense. However, you still have local LAN.

Hello I need a better example to help me have a complete understanding of vpns but also all things and IT. I'm 29 years old and I got one more class to go to get my Associates Degree in Information Systems and I'm now working in a Robotics company in there Help Desk level 1. I don't feel like getting enough experience or they teach so I could advance in a higher position in IT. I want to go in the Network side of IT, but I think I need a step by step guide to help me get there. For my knowledge I like to say I don't because I didn't have enough experience IT. Can you help me?

Question, if i place this comment with my VPN up and after I'm finished this comment turned off VPN, what IP is showing after i turned off VPN? in other words is this comment only encrypted if my VPN is active?

This comments left here... youtube.com website see it as coming from an IP address... and that's it. Any website that has HTTPS protocol enabled encrypts any data sent and received at the website level. I have a perfect video for you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/id1gaNJ5tt-0iWg.html
