Those are fly larvae. The fly lays eggs where the dog sleeps and when they hatch the tiny larvae burrow into the skin. It only takes about a week for them to get this big. Very preventable if owners would provide a clean place for dog to sleep and check dog daily.

There isn't a video that I haven't seen between 4 - 5 times, hoping for a better outcome, but it just doesn't turn out that way. It's obvious to me that the people either have not been taught about pets & playing with your pet, so you know when things are just NOT GOOD, when you go to pet them and they wince in pain. Or, a worm pops out!! What DO they teach the kids about their pet? I look at all the torture that these little animals live with; the illnesses they are guaranteed to get if there is not any relationship with at least ONE MEMBER of the family. I can't imagine a better first time pet for a little one would be a puppy. So joyful the second they decide to like you, or get you to play a game together. With that in mind, how can they bring them to the office looking as they do? Full of worms, ticks, body sores... that is not the life any dog would chose. If it is where it's being tortured, it's because that is the best of the options they have been given. I don't think I could do what you do and keep on trying year after year. My heart goes out to ALL of you that are helping a child or family enjoy a new addition to life.... called, a SMILE!!
