I seriously cannot thank you enough for your videos - I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong with my shoulders for years (via doctors and on my own). Still no luck but overall one shoulder seems to be hyper-mobile after a slip and fall onto my left outstretched arm (I’ve always suspected a SLAP tear and I can tell it’s VERY loose in the socket) and the other shoulder is EXTREMELY tight. Your videos, across the board, have helped me so much in building strength carefully and slowly rather than rushing through with general fitness videos. Thank you so much.

This is great! I've only just found your channel, and am looking forward to watching more of your videos. I'm a medical dumpster fire of weird and rare conditions that require a ton of medical contact and management via specialists, pt, surgeries, etc. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the way you explain things and include more technical details in your instruction. To me, it seems like you presume viewer/patient competence to be able to understand the information, which gives a level of respect and dignity to patients on a level that I've personally found to be uncommon. The more technical and granular information about the mechanics of the issue/injury/exercise make understanding how to do the exercises properly much easier, and undoubtedly more effective. Thank you- truly. I'd love it if you would consider making a video about C-spine and/or L- spine retrolisthesis!

Thanks for the feedback - very kind. Glad you found it helpful. Will put the request on the list - but with all retros it’s usually extension movement and spinal stabilization rehab exercises that help

Fascinating stuff, Tim. Thank you. Never heard of, nor suffered from, TOS thankfully.

TOS seems to be the main thing I’m finding that explains why I can’t brush my hair without getting a numb arm. If I hold my arms above my head I literally see my veins instantly drain and I can’t feel anything but numb pain. I have a terrible forward shoulder posture and neck too. I wonder now that part of what caused my severe Rhabdo 6months ago when doing pressups (and putting me in hospital for 6 days in Mexico) was that I was getting pinched around that area, and therefore the muscles were starved of blood. Anyhow, thank you for the video. I’ll give these a go and see how I progress (alongside another visit to the docs). Report back in a few months.

Thanks so much for this (and other vids). Quick q - based on self diagnosis (eek) of TOS like issue, with persistent pain in shoulders and neck, and pins and needles when stretching pecs lying down - is working out in the gym making it worse? In particular, is doing chest (bench press etc) and shoulders working against any flexibility work, and exacerbating the pain? Thanks, appreciate the time you take to do this stuff

After a very long year, I was recently diagnosed with Arterial TOS. I do have winging of the scapula, with the left shoulder 'rolling' forward. Some of the muscles I have issues/pain with are the SCM, scalenes, traps, lats, serratus anterior, rhomboids, and delts, as well, pain in the AC joint and very tight pec minor and major. Is it possible that having an instable (winging) scapula and forward shoulder could be causing the TOS? And if so, would mixing these TOS exercises with some of the winging scapular exercises help? Or are there any others you would suggest? Some of the PT I do seems to leave me in more pain, or with a very weak shoulder/arm. I do find the nerve gliding helps with some of the numbness in the arm. I appreciate you showing modifications for some of the exercises. Great videos, thank you very much!

Everyone tells you to put your shoulders back and down but when I went to see a vascular surgeon to rule out TOS which he did (he said I have a good strong pulse as one of the many things that ruled me out for TOS as I couldn’t get in to see a neurologist with a 12 month wait in Brisbane) this was one of the diagnostic tests they use. It got me really thinking about the shoulders back and down thing. One thing I have noticed is that my delts have completely disappeared and atrophied making my shoulders unstable. My lat in my upper arms are tight and make my upper arms bulge which are tight and uncomfortable. I feel as though this also inhibits my delts.

So many physios now say not to down and back. I don’t know if he meant when back to squeeze the blade. It restricts the shoulder. Not sure who’s correct
