There is a key missing piece in the heart of the battlefield at Franklin, Tennessee: A near-acre tract of land with a single-story, contemporary warehouse. It is the only obstacle preventing visitors from walking the final quarter mile of the Confederates’ desperate charge against the Union earthworks. Help us secure this important tract. bit.ly/4czzqqO
The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

I jumped over to the ABT website to make a donation, but here's a little extra on KZfaq, to prompt my fellow preservationists to do likewise!

More than twenty years ago I visited that area and was dismayed by all the development that existed on the site of the battle at that time. Any time ABT talks about potential developments on other battlefields I remember Franklin, TN and so, support those efforts. So glad ABT has been able to do what it has in Franklin and will contribute to this one as well. Thank you ABT.

I have an ancestor that was in the 46th Mississippi and fought at Franklin. The Carter House is the best Civil War site of all but I miss Thomas Cartwright, he was the best tour guide ever.

Miss those days as well when I visited Tennessee! Thomas is at the Lotz House, one of the few places left in Franklin that hasn't caved to social pressures & narratives.

My family and I have visited the battlefield and surrounding area several times and I know well the building you are talking about. It is very out of place. I kicked in $20, hope it helps. Several Arkansans fell in the charge including General Cleburne.

If you go to Franklin, you understand why and how removing this building is important to understanding this site. I hope they get this done.

+CWPTbattlefields *Restoring the earth under the warehouse cited takes **_more_** than razing said warehouse:* It means tearing up the adjacent parking lots.

It's better to have ABT own it than China! If you're so concerned about land being bought up to preserve its history how about researching how many foreign countries own a piece of American land. I think you would be surprised.
