Einstein did not reject quantum theory because it was not "beautiful". That is sheer nonsense. He rejected it because he did not accept the uncertainty embedded in quantum mechanics. Second, Einstein was 100% an atheist in the common meaning of the term. He had a deep appreciation for the magnificence of the cosmos, but completely rejected any anthropomorphic notion of a god. He called the Judeo-Christian god a primitive and childish concept. For example, in his letter to Physicist Paul Gutkin, he said, “The word God is for me nothing but the expression of and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of venerable but still rather primitive legends.” Extrapolating the existence of any god from the fact that one finds physical laws "beautiful" is a complete non sequitur.
