That's what it's about, neighbors helping neighbors.

Indeed, in my younger years, that's how we worked. Neighbors helped neighbors, hard to find that today though. Not saying it doesn't exist, just a rarity these days.

Tim..... You know your neighbor is upclassed with you in the field. I think you are the perfect advertisement for the Krone product line. As far as helping your neighbor yes it is what we do in the country. Non farmers have no idea what a relief it is to get that straw out of the field and get your beans planted on time. Around here we swap labor and seat time. You help me and when you get in a pinch I help you. Most times money doesn't change hands. Just a handshake an a thank you. I am sure he is grateful and would be at your doorstep if you needed him.

What's neat is that you were "willing and able" to help your neighbor. You embody the lost spirit of American farming/ranching that built agriculture, in America, to the envy of the world.

Helping the neighbor is a good thing Wes. Hope you continue to do so. I'm 77 years old and retired, but I still do odd jobs around the neighborhood. I've never charged anything for my labor and sometimes if parts are just a couple dollars, I don't even ask for reimbursement. I feel good when the day is done. Most of my work is for people who have no means to do things for themselves. Will someone do things for me when I'm no longer able to take care of myself? Probably not, but I don't really think about it much. It's just comforting to know that when I leave this world, I've contributed more than I took and hopefully, I can rest in peace.

I helped a neighbor last year by running a strip till for him to see what he thought about it instead of planting just plowed ground but we warned him we’d never planted cotton on dry land cotton, which was his plan but he was ok with that. Found out the other day I’ll be doing it again for him this year. Always glad to help when I can.

Enjoyed the vid, first, because helping out a neighbor is how I was raised. Also because comparisons like this show, as you said, how far equipment has advanced over time. Plus we all like to flex a bit of muscle of a time. Thanks for sharing, Wes. Stay safe.

The whole point of having big new toys is so you can pick on your buddies. Just kidding, good to see you helping out a neighbor. Not much of it happening anymore. Looked nice and dry in that field. Wish it would it dry our some here, got hay to bale, cotton to fertilize and peanuts to spray. Have a good one.

I baled some volunteer wheat once and I could only bale it in the morning because as soon it warmed up the straw wouldn’t spin in our round baler. I had to dig out the straw and after watching rattlesnakes running out of the windrows I was a nervous nellie digging that straw out. It was fun watching the hawks grab the mice and snakes. There would be ten or more hawks and eagles circling above me. I always enjoy watching them catching prey.

We had 2 small square Balers running side by side. One was a brand new Case IH the other was a 20 year old New Holland equivalent. The new baler was pounding them through while the New Holland equivalent had to go a little slower. Just came down to age there.

If he paid you you weren't simply helping him, you were hired to do a job. Here(Iowa) if we are helping out a neighbor we get a big thank-you and that is all. If we get in a bind the neighbor will help us if he can. Happens maybe once or twice a month.

A rancher friend of mine used to grow winter rye. I shot a deer on the field and drove over to get it. That’s when Frank told me it was winter rye. He didn’t get mad, he was the best and he liked getting his deer thinned out. He trained Border collies too. Great dogs! He ran about 300 cows and 2 or 3 thousand sheep.

Why not Plant beans in the winter wheat field before the wheat is vert tall. Then harvest the wheat heads and the beans will be free to grow thru the stubble. If planters in 15 “ rows the combine will not hurt the beans. Then you would have 2 very good crops.

Nothing wrong with showing off the efficiency difference between New vs well used older stuff. Especially if people are going to compare the labor hours spent, the cost to operate, ect. When your in business for your self from cutting lawns, to farming, to automotive parts & services you have to calculate every last detail to see where you lose or make money.

Always nice to help out neighbors when you can, but I have to ask what is the latest you guys would plant soybeans? Our have been in the ground for just over a month. We are just about at our planting deadlines (I think it has to be before June 30th if you want to qualify for crop insurance), unfortunately alot of people just east of us got 4-6 inches of rain a couple nights ago, not going to be a good year for many farmers.

So is it unharvested rye grass ("Weidelgras")straw? Its a bit strange because we would not call it straw as long as it has not been threshed. And Rye translates to "Roggen" but it doesn't look like it and you would straight cut it with the Harvester.

the krone has very little competition even against other branded brand new balers never mined that old heston but that case 7000 series that is a beastly tractor for its age and they would give any JD, ford or other tractor from that age or newer with the same ish horsepower a good and hard run for their money . those cases are built to last.

If a guy updates balers like Wes does he really needs the value of the trade in to help buy the next one. If he keeps this one just in case ,then buys another it's a real big chunk of money sitting in a machine he feels he probably don't need at the moment. He can't invest that money somewhere else in the business if he needs to. It's just like he's selling some tractors, the money is more useful than smaller tractors sitting not being used.
