36:09 Fl Studio is big in South Africa. Many top studios run off it this side. Another fun fact is the sound of one of our pioneering genres right now which is Amapiano, was founded and based around an Fl studio stock plugin. The plugin is the DX10 and it contained a preset named Logdrum which is the low end sound and groove of the genre.

Studio one for me was a result of being curious. I learned basic operation of protools in college which is part of the curiosity. I was already familiar with FL before protools but wanted know the “industry standard.” And before all, Cool Edit Pro was my first. Studio One is killer because the time it takes to record upon opening a session, smashed protools.

So my journey to StudioOne started with buying a AudioBox as my first audio interface. Being a new artist/producer it was affordable and StudioOne Artist came with it. At that time I was using FL Studio, which was great for me making beats but was ass in mixing at the time. So I would make beats in FL and mix in StudioOne until, with updates StudioOne became the one stop shop💪🏾

LOL My bad for the long ass comment. Just had to express myself with the love. THIS IS THE EPISODE I THINK ALL OF US AUDIO NERDS WERE WAITING FOR!!! Nah but for real this episode was dope especially because it felt like an extended super discussion while most of the episodes or kinda like an interview style(which is also dope anyway lol ). Good to finally see Wavy Wayne on the Audio Nerds couch choppin it up. No lie its the 2 of you who I looked up to on "KZfaq University" and I always wondered if these 2 guys would ever cross paths and it's dope to have seen that happen since years ago at NAMM. Wavy was on target with this one: Any DAW is great and will get the job done. Just gotta pick and choose which tool you need to get the job done. Right now, ProTools is just industry standard when it comes to recording, editing and mixing-you'll see it in every major studio and its like an audiophiles international language lol. FL is industry standard for making beats(especially in the hip hop/r&b realm-let's face it, ain't nobody making a rock song in FL-JK JK JK LOL :D). Ableton has the live world on LOCK where sequence engineers exist( i didn't even know there was such a thing). But all stems from an album can go on there to play along with a live band on stage-and it could even communicate with lighting too! However, as a DAW, it's dope too especially with sampling and messing with audio files in pitch/time etc. Logic is your all around DAW that just has everything you need to get started straight out the box. It's really a DAW where you feel you don't need any 3rd party plugins to get started whether for producing, mixing or tappin in to Atmos. PS They just came out with an update where they've updated their Pitch Correction which can now compete with Autotune and WavesTune. And they have AI Mastering as well. Keep it up fellas!! You guys are absolutely doing something that's well needed. @chemdrumz

I landed on Studio One after only being a beat maker using FL Studio, taking a hiatus from music coming back wanting to continue making beats but now record vocals, mix & master. I stopped making beats for so long I had forgot how to use FL so I wanted to start fresh with a DAW that was good at both making beats and mixing. After like a week of intensive research Studio one 4 at the time was clearly the best of both worlds & still is today.

I’m a Pro Tools, Studio One, and FL user. FL is the superior production DAW, while Pro Tools and Studio One are interchangeably the best engineering DAW’s imo. I got into S1 after getting frustrated with PT one too many times and absolutely love it! I know all three like the back of my hand and use them for different things. PT is still the industry standard so it comes in handy to know it when going to unfamiliar studios. S1 is my go-to DAW for all things engineering when I have the choice. FL is just goated as a production DAW, you can’t beat their production workflow. All three are flawed but they have their niches. I wouldn’t use Pro Tools AT ALL for production. S1 is okay but just isn’t as efficient in production. However, FL can’t touch PT or S1 when it comes to recording, mixing, and mastering.

commentig on that international topic. The sound of modern Reggaeton was basically built in FL Studio. The golden era of reggaeton was all produced in FL. What the MPC was to hip-hop in the 90's that's what FL was for reggaeton. The biggest reggaeton hits. Gasolina by Daddy Yankee all in FL and so many other hits. DJ Blass was the first one to use it in reggaeton then came in Luny Tunes and they changed the game completely. Everything from like 2001 to like maybe 2012 was all in FL Studio. You would walk in to anystudio in Puerto Rico right next to the Protools rig was a PC with FL Studio on it. now everyone uses whatever they want but back in the days FL was the standard for production in the reggaeton world. Like you cant talk about reggaeton with out mentioning FL Studio that's how big of a part it played for the genre. Fl Studio for production, recording and Mixing in Protools
