Wohin gehen wir, wenn wir das Ringen in Rüstung lernen wollen? Genau, ab zum Buhurt! Das Team der Ruhrpott Knights, das auf internationalen Wettkämpfen unterwegs ist, trainiert regelmäßig in einer super coolen Location in Duisburg und freut sich immer über Besuch von Interessierten.
Nachdem wir den Ruhrpott Knights erklärt hatten, dass wir uns im HEMA auskennen, da wir Bücher und Manuskripte lesen, erteilten sie uns mit viel Freude und Spaß ein paar Lektionen im Duellkampf und dem Buhurt. Man könnte auch sagen, sie rammten uns ungespitzt in den Boden ;)
Mit bis zu 40 kg schweren Rüstungen zu kämpfen hat schon was. Auch wenn (wie eigentlich immer) die Grundprinzipien des Ringens die gleichen sind, entwickelt sich durch das Gewicht eine gewisse Dynamik, die nicht zu unterschätzen ist.
Gerade im Buhurt, der eigentlich den Teamkampf beschreibt, geht es vor allem um strategisches Teamplay.
Die Mädels und Jungs der Ruhrpott Knights haben auf jeden Fall dafür gesorgt, dass wir einen Einblick in diesen wunderbaren Sport bekommen haben und richtige Fans geworden sind.
Ich kann allen nur empfehlen, es einmal auszuprobieren! Für den Anfang gibt es die Soft-Varianten, die den Einstieg erleichtern.

Where do we go when we want to learn how to wrestle in armour? Exactly, off to Buhurt! The Ruhrpott Knights team, which competes internationally, trains regularly in a super cool location in Duisburg and is always happy to welcome interested people.
After we explained to the Ruhrpott Knights that we know our way around HEMA because we read books and manuscripts, they gave us a few lessons in duelling and Buhurt with a lot of fun and joy. You could also say that they rammed us into the ground without being sharpened ;)
Fighting with armour weighing up to 40 kg is quite something. Even if (as always) the basic principles of wrestling are the same, the weight creates a certain dynamic that should not be underestimated.
Especially in the Buhurt, which actually describes the team fight, it's all about strategic team play.
The girls and boys of the Ruhrpott Knights definitely made sure that we got an insight into this wonderful sport and became real fans.
I can only recommend everyone to give it a try! For starters, there are soft variants that make it easier to get started.
