This is Part 1 of 3 Video Lectures on HEMATOLOGY by Professor Fink. In this Video Lecture, Professor Fink shows how to estimate the Total Blood Volume, and then using the Hematocrit (%PCV) to estimate the Plasma Volume. Blood Plasma is analyzed and the clinical importance of the major chemicals are each explained. Reference is made to Electrophoresis, Albumin, plasma Colloid Osmotic Pressure, alpha & beta Globulins (HDL, LDL, transferrin), the Blood Clotting Proteins (prothrombin, fibrinogen, Serum, hemophilia), and the Gamma Globulins (Immunoglobulins), as well as BUN, uric acid, creatinine & electrolytes.
Professor Fink then analyzes Red Blood Cells (Erythrocytes) and Blood Types (ABO & Rh Systems), explaining both Antigens and intrinsic Antibodies.

Professor Fink, I love you. Plain and simple. You have no idea how hard it is to find a Professor with a personality and a professor who doesn't overcomplicate things by using big words that nobody understands. You take hard concepts and explain them in a simple way while even the easy concepts other professors explain them in a way that is difficult to understand. That's why you're the best. Thank you so much for your wonderful lectures!

you made it sound like the Rh antibodies are naturally occurring just like the A antibodies and the B antibodies. This, however, is not the case. Rh antibodies are only produced after exposure. Furthermore, there are many different types of Rh antigens besides the D antigen (which determines the characteristic "positive" or "negative". Humans also have C, c, E, e, F, and f antigens as a part of the Rh blood group system. other than that... amazing lecture! I am currently studying for the MLS(ASCP) exam and your videos are helping me understand things in a whole new way. Thanks for all the help! God bless.

Please stop that crashing banging slapping noise with your hand!! I just yelled in pain. I guess it is to anchor an important point, but for anyone even slightly on the autism spectrum they are going to be fleeing in terror from your class. I kept up pretty well till the slapping started. Didn't take in much from Albumin onwards, which was when it started, the the massive slap at 18 minutes, which I think was the third one, felt like I got slammed in the head by a truck.
