You guys say you want more videos and more projects - and we're delivering! Welcome to the new section of the Riding with Alex Taylor Channel, where more episode with different content will come out. We're pulling out forgotten projects, ones left to sit, and starting new ones. And we're kicking it off with this 41 Willys Gasser with a 392 Blown Alcohol Hemi! This is the LAST Willys that Deb and Den every laid up out of their molds. It became a tribute car to the iconic Stone Woods and Cooks Willys of the past, got dad back into racing, and then it got parked after the Hemi kept giving fits. This is a good one, so buckle up!

Dennis, that’s one more reason not to get rid of the Willys. The fact that Debbie did that one by herself is SO sentimental. The girls are right, you need to hang on to it.

Dennis and Alex, im so looking forward to the rebuild of the Willy's. Amazing engineering and detail you accomplished on this Gasser. My son and I run with Southeast Gasser's with a 4spd B/Gas Anglia. 90" wheel base. Quite a handful it goes 5.70 to the eight mile. Love when you both are together in a episode.

Back in 1970's we called Folk with Dennis's talent a master machinist, the highest honor in the mechanics world. I worked at my Dad's electro-plating shop in Fullerton, So Cal. We got to know Tommy Ivo, Art Arfrons, and the like, and, like you, were all lot of fun (and knowledgeable) people. I am ecstatic to see that art is not lost. Thanks for being you, Dennis.

During my days in the 60's, it was word of mouth and Hot Rod magazine! We had a few parts places in St Louis, local Western Auto had a young guy there that bought a Falcon to just show, and he'd get us hot rudders parts and stuff chromed. Small towns had there drawbacks. Buddy of mine and I did a lot of off-the-wall stuff. We had a 39 Ford coupe with a 392, with Ford truck trans, had to double clutch, still pulled wheels in 1st & 2nd. GOOD OL DAYS!! 😊❤

Back when the '55 build started (when I started "Riding with Alex Taylor") I wondered how Dennis Taylor could have the know-how to build such a highly competitive racer, but this episode goes a long way towards explaining the whole background and how he got to where he is today. Impressive skills! BTW: What a wonderful car. When I was a teenager back in the late Sixties I built a lot of car models in 1/24th scale (AMT, Monogram, etc). The only one I've kept is the '41 Willy's painted that same color (well I tried to😎) - even has a Mooneyes sticker on it - a real classic Gasser...

I'm a big fan of you guys and I would catch a glimpse of your Willys from time to time and I just thought it was another clone. But I like what you did to it, down to the correct headlight bezels. Fun Fact: The deck lid to that exact 41 Willys of Stone Woods & Cook that's on the trailer in the picture is in my garage.. Its fiberglass and still has the parachute mounting holes in it. I have been selling parts from the team up to the time Mike Cook passed away late last year. I sold the deck lid to a guy on the east coast and was ready to have Mike Cook sign it, but mike suddenly passed away the night before. His son Mikey signed it for his dad. I grew up loving that team, we were into AA/FA and Jr Fuel, so we never pitted close to them. I still have the models of all 3 cars. They are the inspiration to my gasser build. Hope to meet you both at an event this year.

Tending to think the time for glass bodies is here again for the limited availability of -60’s, -70’s, -80’s, sound bodies, front ends, doors, etc, for race cars. Most of the glass shops now, cater to niche markets, and the larger potential market is being ignored. Thanks for sharing the history.

Have to say this is one of my favorite episodes. Your dad is a true old school essence of hot rodding. And to go along with the Willy’s getting light at 150 because of getting air stuck in the front area. A factory five Shelby cobra is the same way the front end gets super light at 145-150 mph. One thing about the long ladder bar set up they worked so well on the street where you were doing a dry burn out or maybe a little bit of water. Because it helped transfer the car weight instantly
