A woman investigates a remote mining outpost near Mercury after the facility goes dark. Upon arriving, she finds the space station completely abandoned. When she discovers a lone female survivor hiding in a ceiling crawlspace, she learns that a band of ruthless hijackers will be returning to finish what they started.

Better than a lot of no budget movies. They didn't resort to making things too dark, shaking the camera all the time, flashing lights everywhere, or excessive yelling.

Loved the creative use of "greeblies" in the set dressing. The styrofoam packing pieces randomly glued ti the walls. The panel boxes that the keypads were in were all cardboard shipping boxes painted gunmetal gray and glued to the walls. I can't count how many times I noticed gaff tape used for edging or to cover obvious logos on the computer parts. Nicely done!!!

My first comment seems to have disappeared; No worries. Great movie, with good acting by the leading ladies! And nice twists of the plot. My only complaint is that, once again, a space vessel has artificial gravity but no discussion of how it works. I have been waiting several decades now for an explanation! ;) Also, I am missing something because I can't work out why the title is Hemishpere?

Both great observations. Artificial gravity is the bane of nearly every scifi movie. You either depict weightlessness, and the hassles of that, or have gravity and try to move forward with your story (as Alien, Star Wars, and countless others have done). I hope we have a REAL solution to creating gravity in the near future. To the title, Hemisphere is a play on words (Hemi-here = half-here) and a metaphor for both hemispheres of the human brain, which can undoubtedly lead to drama during space missions. Then there's the dark side of Mercury that they orbit (the planet's hemisphere).

Well xodarap, that's a particular paradox I've thought about also if paradox it be - I always look to see if maybe it spins on an axis - the best I've seen wasn't really an explanation but seemed an accurate depiction when artificial grav was lost aboard a fed starship as 2 Klingons were assassinated, with all the globules of blood floating around,, plus some other stuff...

I feel this movie is very inconsistent. It was AI and there were no bad guys? But they literally saw the ship coming towards them before hiding in the attic in the middle of the movie. Why send the main girl to this place if she was someone they didn't want to know anything? Why did the 2 girls hide if the other girl was behind it all? Oh well, free movie. Not the best I've seen or the worse lol Edit: I think one of the makers of the film is reading these and commenting. I don't wanna be a jerk because I make stuff as well and criticism is hard to hear....and people just say things without really thinking. Another commenter said this was the lowest budget movie they had ever seen, and I thought to myself I've seen some doozies of low budgeted films, how low budget could a low budget, low budget film go before low budget became no budget? Well, let me tell you, it's sooo low. I've seen low budget movies with lower budgets than this one but never one that looked this low budget. I mean, they actually taped disposable aluminum foil baking tray to a wall as a space-tech access panel prop with no other effort to disguise it was an aluminum foil baking tray! Even highlighted it in one scene with an artsy half-screen closeup, which in truth almost made me overlook it!

The guy starts out saying to a woman on earth, "We need you now... there is a 2 month waiting list for other candidates." Then, she is suddenly at the Mercury processing station flying solo in a small craft... she estimates "10 days since the crew disappeared". Bad science... bad understanding of orbital mechanics... you can't just go whenever you want, and it takes a LOT more than 10 days to plan a mission, execute, fly thru space, etc... it's not a mission for one person in a small craft. All of this could have been developed and presented better. Don't present science if you don't understand it.

Physics was not strong. You can't perpetually orbit the dark side of Mercury. And it is not tidally locked. The dark side will become the light side, in a few months. But I have seen worse. The weak stuff was using obvious anachronistic stuff like a laptop with USB, the water bottle, 5 gallon bucket. I can forgive crummy spacesuits, those are hard to do. Climbing in space could have been done better, and for no/minimal extra money. Also, fast chemical reactions add a lot of air pressure fast, and bad things are going to happen. The wrench is adequate by itself. Alternatively, 3D printing a bear trap, or a few, might be a nice way to bring him down initially.

Regarding anachronistic... I am reminded of the infamous Grass Valley video switcher, used in the original "Star Wars" to blow up the Death Star. Even famous movies rely on anachronistic props sometimes! ; )
@ChessMasterNate
@ChessMasterNate 18 күн бұрын
@@trujillocreek77 Anachronistic props can be an ingenious way to save money, provided the audience is not extremely familiar with them, or there is some rational reason they might still be using them, or they are merged/truncated with things and put in orientations that make them harder to recognize. When the B-52 airplanes are finally retired, they will have been in operation 100 years, perhaps longer. But 6-8 years and a laptop is junk. I saw these really cool "Office Privacy Pod Phone Booth Call Rooms" in the Los Angeles Craig's List. They look fantastic for movie props. Pricey, maybe, but perhaps a rental for a couple weeks? Modern but obscure can easily work. Some things are timeless: tableware, some chairs, tables, paper clips, pens and doors. They may or may not be in realty, but only when you reach that future date can you really praise or mock. We may be mocked for things like there being people with receding hairlines or bald. Maybe they will just take a pill or have those genes changed. Maybe there will be no crocked teeth, no obesity. Who can say how things will really be? Sometimes filmmakers assume that because they are unfamiliar with something that the audience won't be either. What you want to look at beyond that intuition is just how many are made. The more there are, the more of your audience will have seen them. Upon seeing an IBC tote (a palletized liquids container) a filmmaker might think these look like great props for distant future/alien worlds. But, in realty, 3/4 of your audience will recognize them because there are many millions of these things. Modified in some way, perhaps, like cutting out 1/3 of it and covering it in aluminum tape. One thing that bothers me in many space-based science fiction movies is people with a lot of obvious sun damage, and very tan, being cast as lifelong space travelers. I think space travelers are going to have near perfect skin. Maybe even get mocked for burning fast when on a planet, or overly frightened of getting sun. After all, it is radiation.
